Timing belt idler pull-up broke replaced with kit witch inc.waterpump, idle pull-up,tension pully and belt.linned up marks turns over but won't crank

You aren't giving us details on the vehicle. What is the manufacturer, year, model and engine size? It is possible that when the timing belt broke that there was internal damage done to the engine as many are interference engines, meaning that if the timing belt breaks the pistons and valves will collide, causing bent valves and/or broken pistons. This will cause loss of compression and a no-start condition. Assuming you have the belt installed properly, check the engine compression. If it is low, then you'll know you trashed the innards and will need to disassemble and repair the damaged parts.

Drive belt broken, car will not start

Hi,when the timing belt brakes it allows the pistons to crash into the valves in the head so they bend or brake,as a quick whay to find out what damage has been done, buy a new timing belt and set the timing then get a compresion tester and do each cylinder at a time and see what the values are,it will let you know how maney valves are bent or broken if any, also if the valves are bent or broken they may of damaged inside the head, sorry about your problem hope you get it sorted out and dose not cost alot to fix,all the best.

Does a broken timing belt automatically mean bent vales?

No you don't always bend valves typically with 4 or 6 cylinder engines are equiped with free floating engines that when the chains or belts break it allows the engine from creating greater damage to other parts of your engine

Timing belt broken kia rio 2003

it is an interference engine which means that when a belt breaks , you can expect at least half of the valves to be bent and need replacing
you can get more quotes for the job as that seems extreme
the work entails replacing the belt , idler pulleys , cam and crank seals and hydraulic adjuster ( a professional job to get another 60,000miles from the belt)
That much will set you back by around $1000.00 including labour
The extra is the head removal and new valves so add another $700.00 --including labour )for that and you can see that you need more quotes from accredited service shops

My timing belt came off on my 2003 chrysler seibring can i fix it myself

Well, a lot depends on your ability to do mechanical things. It also depends on whether you have the proper equipment or not. A timing belt on a Sebring is one of the toughest timing belts out there. It is no walk in the park for a seasoned technician. If the belt is broken, the job just got about 100 times harder to do...

ALL of the engines used in Sebrings in 2004 are "interference engines" meaning that if the timing belt broke while the engine was cranking over or running, there is most likely engine damage resulting from the pistons hitting the valves. The camshafts should be removed and a cylinder leakage test performed before replacing the timing belt. This test will identify any valves that may be bent. The cylinder head (or heads) will have to be removed to repair any of this type of damage. Then again, you might get lucky. The test will tell. I wouldn't even attempt to put a timing belt on one of those engines without doing the leak test FIRST if the belt is broken.

Ford Focus - 12 years old, broke timing belt. The garage is saying I need a complete new cylinder head. I suspected it was the timing belt and expected several bent valves at worst. My question is...

Here at my repair shop have never had to replace a cylinder head, due to timing belt failure, just replace bent valve's and machine head.

The timing belt in my 2001 pt cruiser is broken. Did this cause any damage to the engine? or do we just need to replace the timing belt

Its got damage, bent valves. replace every thing on timing belt, tensioner, pulleys, water pump. The head needs to go to a machine shop and bent valves replaced.

Broken timing belt need to know if it bent any valves

The only ways that I know of is to either take apart the valves and check them, or put in the new timing belt and start it up and listen to the valve train. If the timing belt broke under power there is a good chance of valve damage.
