Hello, I have two tdm 850s. a 92 and 94 model and want to raise the ground clearance by about two or three inches.

Depends how close your current tires are to your inner guards. If you have room for another 0.35 ins no problems.

This vehicle has higher ground clearance and narrower tread in relation to the height of its center of gravity to make it capable of performing in a wide variety of off-road applications. Specific design characteristics gives it a higher center of gravity than ordinary passenger cars. This vehicle design feature causes this type of vehicle to be more likely to rollover. sound like worn coil springs wrong tire rim size or if you talking about exhaust system have muffler raise exhaust pipes if they hanging too low it will drag on every things roll over.

put a jack under tha trans. and jack it up (JUST COUPLE INCHES ) see if the Transmission mount behind drivers tire is broken, if so it will raise up and come apart , NEXT ! Raise the hood "hold the brake and watch the motor through the windshield or stand up with one foot on the ground "Watch the motor see if it looks as if it motor is raising up and down if so you have a broken mount somewhere ! But if not you will need to change the shift solenoid thats inside the trans pan thats located behind drivers side front wheel order one from E-BAY for low cost, buy all three and change them while you have it apart ! Want to know how to install body lift on a 2003 jeep wrangler sport


The body lift is included to ensure the larger tires can cycle through the full range of suspension movements without touching anything. The nice thing is that lifting a Jeep Wrangler (TJ) is easily done in stages:
- A 1 inch body lift will allow you to easily clear a slightly larger tire than stock, very inexpensively
- A 2 inch suspension lift would allow another tire-size upgrade, and increase ground clearance as dollars allow

In the end, a 1" body lift, combined with a 2" or 3" suspension lift will allow you to fit a 33" tire under these Jeeps. This not only increases your actual ground clearnace under the axle by almost 3 inches, but those new springs will flex a lot better than the old ones, so your Jeep will be much more capable offroad.

Combine this simple lifting strategy with aggressive fender trimming, and you could stuff 35" tires under that rig of yours - that would be good for almost 4 inches of extra clearance (over stock) under the axles - but you'd want to look at upgrading those axles if you're going with a tire over 33".

Other Lift Considerations... running out and slapping on some pucks under your body tub might sound easy, but there is a bunch to consider before the wrenches start flying:

* Get replacement bolts ready - the old rusty ones will be tough to get out and you'll want new ones to install
* Make sure you use actual body lift components - some areas will not allow a Jeep equipped with hockey pucks as body mounts to pass inspections - don't laugh, it happenes every day
* Be ready to lengthen wires and control linkages as needed - going up 1 inch shouldn't pose a problem, any higher might. You'll need to fabricate longer shifter and t-case handles, and watch for any other items which need lengthening.
* DO NOT run a body lift any higher than 3 inches - even that's a bit much. All you are doing it raising the centre of gravity and rather than the lift blocks supporting the mass of the body (and you) vertially, the bolts now must carry the weight through the turns. Think of it - does it seem safe to have 6, 1/2" or so bolts holding roughly 2500 lbs worth of body tub and humans in place? Keep it to 1 inch if at all possible.

Don't forget, if you raise the suspension, you'll need to install longer trac bars to locate the axles and adjust or replace steering components to keep the angles of steering-related items within specs. A full, complete kit, will have everything you need. Be sure to double and triple check those trac-bars - there's two in TJ Wranglers - one for each axle. Their job is to located the axle under the Jeep - if you hear a clunking noise after the install, chances are the mounting or location bolts/nuts are loose. In general, these nuts/bolts cannot be tight enough. Re-check them periodically and after every two or three trail rides. As with any suspension changes, go get an alignment when you're done.

TO REMOVE FRONT WHEEL BEARING.YOU NEED TO SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT VECHICLE ON JACK STANDS.MAKE SURE SITTING ON LEVEL SOLID GROUND.BEFORE RAISING VECHICLE OFF GROUND YOU NEED TO LOOSEN HALF SHAFT AXLE NUT JUST A LITTLE BECAUSE WHEEL IN THE AIR HARD TO LOOSEN AXLE NUT WHEN YOU HAVE HOLD THE WHEEL WHILE LOOSEN THE AXLE NUT WHICH IS TORQUE ON ABOUT 200 FT LBS.USING A SIX POINT AXLE SOCKET SOCKET SIZE COULD BE 34 OR 35 METRIC 1/2 INCH SOCKET.YOU NEED 1/2 INCH BREAKER BAR.ONCE YOU LOOSEN AXLE NUT A LITTLE THEN RAISE VECHICLE THEN REMOVE WHEEL.THEN FINISHING REMOVING AXLE NUT AND WASHER.THEN REMOVE THE CALIPER FROM THE STEERING KNUCKLE AND SUPPORT IT ASIDE USING A PIECE OF WIRE.REMOVE BRAKE ROTOR.THEN REMOVE THE 3 HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY BOLTS. USE A SWIVEL SOCKET GOING TO BE HARD TO REACH SPOT WITH A REGULAR SOCKET. REMOVE THE HALF SHAFT FROM THE HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY.REMOVE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY. PUT EVERY THING BACK VISA VERSA. TORQUE HUB BEARING BOLTS TO 70 FT LBS. I need to know in what order does the torsion bar linkage go. I took my blazer to the garage to get it inspected and they told me that they were put on wrong.


Aint much to a torsion bar, it has 2 identicle ends. Both ends are hexigon shaped. And only one adjustable screw, one for each side. Tighten it, and it will raise the front of your vehicle, loosen it, and it lowers the front of your vehicle. All torsion bars are not equal, so a set amount of turns to adjust is not a fix all solution. Mine is 10-1/2 turns from first thread contact, but, you need about a 1/2 inch of clearance from lower arm to lower bump stop. Or to find the Z hieght of your blazer. Measure from the center of your lower arm bolt/pin to the ground (vehicle must be level). then measure from the bottom of the stearing knuckle to the ground. Subtract the two measurements, you want 4.9 inches(4" 7/8"). The higher you turn the torsion bar to raise your front end. the more problems you will have, especially rough riding.

P.S. You can do this adjustment without jacing up the Blazer. But if you have to tighten the adjustment screw, it can be tough. I suggest jacking up one side, Use a jack stand for safety! make an adjustment, then lowewr the vehicle. rock it back and forth to let the suspension settle and measure again. and repeat till all is well.

Low ground clearance on 2006 B3500 Chevrolet Express Van. Is there a kit to help lift the vehicle a few inches and if so, will it affect the ride once installed.


I'm suppose to be getting information on a kit which will raise the vehicle approximately 3 inches.  Should have info. in a couple of weeks.  Thank You for your interest.
