Hi Paul, Most of these gearboxes were almost identical for vw during the those years, some manuals are available free from this site

Hi, I have a 2001 polo 1.4 mpi it lackes power when you hit a hill it just dies, It has had new cat, fuel filter, fuel pump and throttle body, but is still the same it just dose not want to give me full rev's?

17mm head just pull them up tight with a rachet normal size and it will be right ,in 40 yrs +of repairing vehicles from scammel to rollers never used a torque wrench

the answer to your question according to information supplied by auto data ( the bible to us techs) is 60Nm, then a further 90 degrees. You should also use new bolts. Hope this helps,
