Hi, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

If your 1999 Durango has a mechanical fan and an electric fan then this is what they are used for. The mechanical fan should you have one is used for the engine coolant to keep the engine from overheating. While the electric fan is used for the A/C System to keep the pressure from getting to high and damaging the A/C Compressor. NOTE: In this cases scenario with no relay the A/C system would not work properly. BUT, if you only have an electric fan then the engine would overheat because it works both systems. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website at: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

I hit a deer with my durango 2003 would it hurt to drive it without the electric fan working it is gone?

if the fan is in front of the ac condensor, turn the ac off
if the fan is used to cool the radiator, ( from the engine side ) there is a very high risk of burning the motor
I would rather trailer the vehicle than pay for another motor

My 2003 dodge durango keeps overheating , i just had new radiator put in and it started overheating again but now it is overheating with a very loud screeching noise like a belt sound what could be ca

as for noise will have to inspect under hood, could be fan or belt or pulley ,water pump .these are some things it could...My suggestion for overheating is replace thermostat. If your car has electric cooling fan then it may not be working..turn defrost on and if fan kicks on then fan motor is good..Now this does not mean that fan is working properly because fan is controlled by heat sensor switch that kicks fan on when motor reaches heat range......Things i would have checked....hope this information helps and good luck and Please rate my post...

Engine fan runs constantly as you accelerate on 2004 durango 4.7l v8

Are you talking about the mechanical fan or the electric fan??Does the vehicle overheat??? If its the mechanical fan,,It could be stuck and staying locked up,,or it could be lock up because the electric fan is in operative..When you are idling or the a/c is on then the electric fan should be on..If its not ,,then the mechanical fan might be locked up due to the vehicle trying to run hott..But if the electric is comming on then the mechanical fan is probably bad..The electric fan is hard to see..You have to look up in front of thr mechanical fan..Hope this helps

My 1999 durango 5.2, it over heats, loses power, makes a sound when losing power, maybe needs a solenoid?

If it only overheats at idle..then check see if there is a electric fan in front of the mechanical fan..I know the 2001 has one ,,but im not sure of the 99..You have to look with a flashlight ..Look into the mechanical fan towards the front you should see the blades of the electric fan,,if it has it...The electric fan should come on instantly when you turn on the a/c

2003 Dodge Durango airconditioning blows hot air.

The AC will not work if the electric blower fan on the radiator does not come on. (It's under the shroud) ( Vehicle has engine fan and a electric fan hidden under the shroud..

Electric fan on radiator runs whenever engine is

this is either a sticking fan relay or the sensor is in the thermostat housing, try the relay 1st.

My 2001 dodge durango is overheating an leaking coolant from a round plug type thing in the corner on the passenger side near the windshield

What exactly is the "round plug type thing" near the firewall [passenger side]? Is it a sensor of some type? I, too, have a coolant leak here on my 2001 Durango; its tucked in rather tightly near the hood/firewall corner. My electric fan is not kicking on; vehicle overheated tonight. (4.7 liter)

Overheating

Electrical cooling fans not coming on due to bad sensor, fan relay, or bad fans. Check thermostat and coolant temperature, too....accordianman
