SOURCE: running rough

hi,

could be the idle air control solenoid , its right below the throttle position sensor(opposite where you can open the throttle with your hand) on the 3.3v6, when that goes it does all sorts of stuff, bottom line its going to have to be put on a dyno to see what it is but you can take that part off and get one at the junkyard we got a whole throttle body for 10.00. Try also to disconnect the electrical connector off the idle air control solenoid and see if runs any differently, then youll know right away

SOURCE: LOSING POWER AT IDLE.

In such a situation the TPS Sensor must have gone bad.

Have a check first, run a scan and if the code says error 7 for OBD 1 and P0120 or P0121, then it is the TPS Sensor.

Cheers and dont forget to rate this.

SOURCE: 96 Cavalier. "sometimes" wont start

The fact that you get enhanced ignition by physically enriching the fuel air mix indicates that the normal mix is too lean, either too little fuel or too much air. 1) Check for leaks of un-metered air in to the air ducting and inlet manifold. Look for cracks and poor joints to all vacuum lines including the evaporative emission recovery lines. 2) Check that the EGR valve is closed off at start up: this should stay closed until engine has warmed up. 3) Finally check that the coolant temperature sensor is working OK; the sensor should be informing the ECU that the engine is cold and the ECU responds by ensuring an enriched fuel mix (by prolonging the injection cycle) during engine warm up.

SOURCE: how can you tell if you have accelerator pedal position sensor problem or throttle body sensor problem

Could be a wheel speed sensor going bad and making the computer think it is spinning or losing traction causing a power reduction to reduce spinning.

Common problem on these vehicles. Numerous forums with several possible fixes. Throttle body may be bad, e cm may be bad or the engine wiring harness may be bad. Highly recommend finding a repair shop familiar with this issue to diagnose and fix it. The extra money spent will probably save you mo eyes over chasing the wrong problem.

2000 Saturn Ls2 3.0 have reduced engine power light with error code p1516 which is throttle actuator but i am unsure how to fix? Do i replace entire throttle body???is this a false code??

The throttle actuator opens the throttle. Your gas pedal is really just a switch that sends an electrical signal to the computer which in turn opens the throttle body with an electric servo motor. On most gm products the actuator is a part of the throttle body and cannot be replaced seperately. This is an accurate code and the only way to be sure (without having a dealers repair manual and thousands of dollars of test equipment) is to replace it. I had this same issue with my 04 Cadillac. Bought a used throttle body for 1/3 price of new on ebay and ran fine for several years until I sold it.

Stability track

This is a common problem with GM's. The TPS sensor goes bad in the throttle body. Throws out a message to service Stabilitrac. Not SO!!!
The kicker is that the whole throttle body has to be replaced because the TPS sensor is actually part of the throttle body!!! Costs around $250.00 for aftermarket.

Try cleaning IAC valve (idle air control vale) might be dirty and sticking. Clean throttle body and all openings in throttle body inlet, then start truck and spray while running if still doing it replace IAC valve.
