Battery charge The indicator on the battery gauge is very high when I increase engine RPMs. The light is red at low RPMs. This is on at 4035 model.

This usually indicates the battery has a shorted cell. Here is how you can test it. With the engine not running, take a digital voltmeter set to volts function and read the battery voltage. It should read at least 12.3 volts. If the first two digits are 11, then your battery is bad. If you show a battery voltage over 12.3 volts, then you probably have a bad alternator. Beyond that, I need more details, like, does the engine crank ok? Are headlights dim when engine is stopped? What does "battery gauge very high" mean? What is the make of the vehicle?

battery not charging , means the charging system is not working , Doesn't mean the battery is bad . The charging system on your vehicle is computer controlled , If the BCM doesn't see the correct voltage , it will raise the idle RPM to over come any load on the system . Probably has DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the BCM or PCM , These codes do not always turn on the money light ( check engine ) . The IPC illuminates the BATTERY NOT CHARGING - 7 indicator in the DIC when the PCM detects a malfunction with the generator output. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM requesting illumination.

I work for Cadillac , have for over thirty year's . Have seen people mess this stuff up big time . So do yourself an take to one of my fellow tech's.

Electrical Load Management
The power management function is designed to monitor the vehicle electrical load and determine when the battery is potentially in a high discharge condition. This is accomplished by using a high accuracy battery voltage reading as an indicator of battery discharge rate. The following six levels of load management will execute in the load management control algorithm when there is a high discharge condition:
The first action requests a vehicle idle speed increase to the powertrain control module (PCM) in order to raise alternator output.
The second action requests a greater vehicle idle speed increase to the PCM in order to raise alternator output.
The third action begins to shed vehicle loads in an attempt to remedy the heavy discharge condition.
The fourth action requests another vehicle idle speed increase to the PCM in order to raise further the alternator output.
The fifth action begins to shed further vehicle loads in an attempt to remedy the heavy discharge condition.
If the above five corrective actions fail, the sixth action of power management further sheds loads in a final attempt to remedy the high discharge condition.
Loads subject to reduction include the following:
• The A/C clutch
• The heated mirrors
• The heated seats
• The rear defog
• The HVAC blowers
The power mode master (PMM) calculates the battery temperature, voltage and charging rate at all times while the engine is running. The PMM calculates the battery temperature by factoring in:

Low oil pressure indicator at low rpms (idle) '97 olds V8


Low pressure when at idle, after the engine has warmed up and the oil has thinned, indicates that the oil pump is worn and needs to be replaced.

Oil pressure high, oil level low


Oil pressure and oil level are two different creatures.

your oil gauge determines oil pressure while the oil can (red light on dash) indicates oil levels.

There are usually two different sensors but can gauge the same types of things. E.G. - If your oil is so low that your pressure gauge is affected this can cause engine failure. Thus--a good rule of thumb is to check your oil once a week as the oil pressure gauge and red oil can may not always work as intended.

Changed battery battery light still on now lights get dim with low rpms and brighter with higher rpms


you need to check voltage at the battery with the car running. The battery light indicates there is a problem with the charging system not necessarily the battery but the alternator. With the car running you should see more than 13.5 volts and better yet over 14 volts. if you see around 12 volts or less than you have a charging system problem and most likely the alternator has gone bad.

Have you notice any other symptoms like the loss of power steering or the engine overheating?

When you changed the battery did you check the cable ends to make sure they where nice and clean?

P1338 - Fuel Pump feedback circuit low/high voltage. This is indicating that your fuel pump is either getting too much voltage or too little voltage as is sensed by the fuel pump control module. Now, this can be caused by either bad wiring connections or a battery not charging causing low voltage. Should read 14 1/2 volts if charging at 1500 rpms

with the engine OFF, look at the belt(s) going to the alternator. it is probably loose. if so, then it is likely that the idler/ tensioner pulley is bad (the clicking is the bearings inside the pulley rattling around inside the pulley wheel) the clue is clicking + charge light ON.

We changed the alternater like four times the battery light wont turn off, we have even check some wire


the plug on the alt will some times go bad usually melting this is normally the cause of this

Oil pressure will increase slightly with RPMs, I wouldn't think it would go too far over the middle mark on the gauge. If it's an actual measurement that's numbered I would think 50 to 60 PSI at highway speeds would be on the high side. Some vehicles are finicky and a loose gas cap or a worn o-ring seal on the cap can cause a check engine light. It would be a good idea to have a scanner hooked to it. Advance auto will normally scan a vehicle at no charge. Write down the codes and google them along with your trucks info. Make year and motor size. Good luck

Your generator is pcm controlled. So is the charge indicator. Any charging system trouble codes? The gencom circuit is signal from pcm to generator. The genmon signal is from generator to pcm. Even at idle if you turn on a load, there should be a reaction, engine speed may increase as well as generator output. By load,I'm talking about headlamps or hvac something. At the moment I can't rule out your generator? I hate to see you replace anything and it not fix it?
