Would a 4.88 ring and pinion gear lower my speed too low for street driving for my '93 chevy s-10 2.8 engine 2 WD w/a 5 speed manual transmission?

Reason for swapping from a 4.10 to a 4.88: towing trailer/heavy loads, easier on clutch

Normal street diff ratios are in the 3:1 or 3.5: ratios as these give best performance speed and economy
fitting that ratio will give a lower top speed and may affect the economy as it makes the engine seem more powerful so less throttle is need for take off
it also will have higher rpms at your normal driving speed
(example -- normal ratio --60 mph 3000 rpms new ratio 60 mph-- 3250 rpms )
the speedo reading will be out as well enough to get into trouble with speed cameras
if you are not a led foot and take you time in traffic it will be just a bit slower
the only real way is to try it and see if you like the result

It'll wind the living c?ap out of it on the freeway, it will lower your fuel mileage to the point of worthless, and wear out your engine and transmission much much faster than normal.

There is an icon showing in the speedometer area it looks like a trailer and the car is driving weird like it's in a low gear

That icon looks like the vehicle has been put into tow mode.
When towing or hauling a heavy load, you can activate this feature with a button on the steering wheel, stalks or dash. Activating this mode tells the on board computer to modify the shifting pattern that is better for towing a hauling a heavy load often restricting the gearbox to the lower gear ratios.
  1. The Tow/Haul Light will come on when the system is on.
  2. If the light flashed steadily, have the system serviced.

How do I get the leg on my 3 horse slant GN trailer easier to wind up?

if this is a standard dolly wheel for trailers, the fix will be a new one as the thread inside the unit will be damaged or bent
there are good trailer shops around that will have a heavy duty unit that is designed for heavy loads on the tow bar where the internal thread is larger and there is a thrust bearing between the nut and the housing

Motor runs great unless I pull my horse trailer then runs hot

Get a transmission cooler, as well as additive for the radiator fluid. Water wetter, royal purple, etc.

What is the towing performance of a kia sportage 2ltr 4wd

Towing

Kia lists a maximum trailer towing mass (trailer plus load) of 1800 kg for the Sportage but that figure would be illegal in NSW. For light commercials (such as the Sportage) in NSW, the regulations state that the loaded trailer must not exceed 2/3s of the gross vehicle mass (GYM) of the towing vehicle. The Sportage's GVM is 1928 kg, resulting in an allowable maximum towing mass of 1292 kg. Even this figure could be beyond the Sportage's reasonable capabilities, given its sub standard handling and its overall levels of performance.

If there is too much weight on the rear of the trailer it will sway,
try loading with the weight on the hitch end.

2000 dodge durango overdive solenoid is faiuling,

That solenoid is inside the trans. The fact you were towing something heavy had nothing to do with the failure. You need to take it to a shop that can check the cvi's(clutch volume index) & some other critical components.
