How do i open my bonnet with no cable

Try using a long rod from under the car up past the front of the radiator to activate the lock. You may need a friend to push down on the bonnet to help in this operation.

How do i unlock door with a clothes hanger

Take a wedge (plastic preferably) and wedge a bit between the door and roof enough to get hanger/wire inside to activate the power lock mechanism on the door panel. You risk scratching the paint doing this, but it has worked for me in the past, or you can trip the door lock with the wire.

If the key was a transponder key, then you will most likely need to take the VIN number to the dealer or a lock smith that makes transponder keys to get a key that will start it. Hopefully you will not have to have it towed to a dealer to have the key made.

Hi there,

Rear Door Child Safety Locks - Child safetly locks are located on the rear edge of each rear door. I have this on a Passat 1998 model and it's frustrating, im at the point where all 4 doors wont unlock and the 2 front ones work with the key but need to be closed with the key again. The boot opens and closes with the remote.I removed and cleaned all four door barrels when they opened intermitently and under the passenger side footwell is the ecu for the windows&alarm which i removed and cleaned as well as soldered 2 dry joints. If i activate the fob i hear the relay in the ecu click and double click to lock and the boot lock works which indicates the electrics are ok.Doing a google there are 1000sssds of queries with passat/vw door lock problems and the main cause is dry solder joints in the door lock mechanisms in the door.I found out from the main dealer when replacing my bootlock(the old one was damaged in a theft attempt) that a new modified part was available and the same for door locks????leading me to believe this is a widespread problem. The only thing is to remove the door parts and inspect the catch and circut board for dry joints. This link may help you. copy and paste this into your browser or google the website if you dont know how.

Tailgate and back window problems

you need to check that you have an electrical signal to the lock when the alarm is activated.Use a testlight/probe.Unplug at rear lock activating unit.hold test light to positive side and activate alarm,if you have a power signal the lock activator is suspect but also check that the mechanical part of the lock is free moving and not resistant to being moved.Does the central locking work on the back doors with the original system? If it does the problem is with the immobiliser. If it doesnt then the lock activator area would be the likely place to look for the fault.
