Any number of things can cause this problem. Get a free scan at a major auto parts store. If there is no trouble code a Dealership diagnostic tool may be needed. There are only so many things available in a handheld scanner.

Even a bad motor mount can cause your problem.

It's inside the SJB - smart junction box ! It's non - serviceable . Is the air bag light lit on the instrument cluster ?Do you know what a smart junction box is ? It's a electronic module with a fuse / relay box built into it .

Module Controlled Functions The smart junction box (SJB) is the multifunction electronic control module on this vehicle. The SJB is a combination of a multifunction control module and a central junction box (CJB). SJB functions control multiple systems, which include:
  • auto locks
  • exterior lamps
  • illuminated entry and interior lamps
  • perimeter anti-theft alarm
  • power door locks
  • rear windshield wiper
  • remote keyless entry (RKE) keypad
  • RKE system
  • tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
The SJB is located under the front passenger side floor console. For removal information, refer to Smart Junction Box (SJB) in this section. For additional information on the interior lamps and illuminated entry, refer to Section 417-02 . For additional information on the exterior lighting, refer to Section 417-01 . For additional information on the power door locks, the RKE keypad, and the RKE system, refer to Section 501-14 . For additional information on the rear windshield wiper, refer to Section 501-16 . For additional information on the perimeter anti-theft, refer to Section 419-01A . My 2009 mercury mariner steering wheel keeps shaking and jerking along with a noise when its in idle or stopped at a light. It has to in my colum . Doesn anyone know wat it culd be?

This can be caused by a weak or misfiring engine cylinder but the check engine light would be on an most likely flashing, if that isn't the case you may need new engine mounts.

Power stering failure saturn ion 2006

Hey Alex , what would you like to know ? Your vehicle has Electronic power steering , controlled by a control module .
The electric power steering (EPS) system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the body control module (BCM), power steering control module (PSCM), torque sensor, discrete battery voltage supply circuit, EPS motor, serial data bus, and the instrument panel cluster (IPC) message center to perform the system functions. The PSCM, torque sensor, not the EPS motor are serviced separately from each other or from the steering column. Any EPS components diagnosed to be malfunctioning requires replacement of the steering column assembly, also known as the EPS assembly.
They had a recall on these systems ! Suggest you take it to a GM dealer , Chevy , Cadillac , Buick , etc.....

My car is saying service ESC

That light means that the computer control module has detected a fault in the Electronic stability control system and it turned on the light to alert you. Right now the system is turned off for your safety. You now need the system scanned for the fault code that is set in the control modules memory.

My ABS light is on and off on a 2006 Mercury Mariner. Do I need to do something to get this light to stay off

SECTION 206-09: Vehicle Dynamic Systems 2006 Escape/Mariner/Escape Hybrid/Mariner Hybrid Workshop Manual DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Procedure revision date: 03/29/2005 Anti-Lock Control adobe.gif Printable View (63 KB) The ABS consists of the following components:
  • Hydraulic control unit (HCU)
  • Anti-lock brake control module
  • Front and rear wheel speed sensors
  • Front and rear wheel speed sensor rings
  • Stability control sensor cluster
  • Stability/traction control switch
The ABS prevents wheel lock-up by monitoring the wheel speed sensors and actuating the HCU modulating the brake pressure to prevent wheel lockup. By preventing the wheels from locking up, the driver is able to maintain steering control and stop in the shortest possible distance under most conditions. The traction control system utilizes the same components as the ABS to prevent wheel spin and help maintain vehicle control during acceleration. The roll stability control (RSC) system utilizes the same components as the ABS and the traction control systems and also monitors the steering wheel position sensor and the stability control sensor cluster to assist in stabilizing the vehicle during abrupt maneuvers.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ABS module is self monitoring. The module will carry out a preliminary electrical check of the hydraulic pump motor by turning the pump ON for approximately 1/2 second either when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position and the brake pedal is not pressed or when the vehicle is in motion and at vehicle speeds above 20 km/h (12 mph). The ABS module will also carry out a wheel speed sensor self-test by sending a reference voltage to all of the wheel speed sensors through their circuitry when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position, with or without brake pedal application. If a malfunction is detected in the pump or wheel speed sensors, the ABS module will shut down and disable the anti-lock system. Normal power assisted braking, however, remains.

  • Base brake system
  • Brake booster vacuum hose
  • Hydraulic control unit (HCU)
  • Steering components and suspension components
  • Tire size
  • Wheel speed sensor ring
  • ABS module
  • Battery junction box (BJB) fuse(s):
    • 19 (40A)
    • 22 (40A)
  • Brake fluid level switch
  • Brake pressure transducer
  • Smart junction box (SJB) fuse(s):
    • 6 (15A)
    • 34 (5A)
  • Stoplamp switch
  • Wheel speed sensor
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors

You may need to have the dealer run a scan test to determine the DTC fault codes. Then go from there. Autozone can't read these codes as tehy are chassis codes. They only can read powertrain codes.

Good luck. please rate.

Look at the automatic idle control module and the idle control valve on the engine. The valve can be cleaned. Use a code reader to verify if any electronic problems exist.
