Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I've just bought a clarke xr75 diesel space heater. I was told it needed a new switch, I bypassed it but still no power. Fuses are good. Any ideas?

Hope you got it cheap. First I would check the heat sinks. Then go after the PC board.

If I bypass the pcb the motor will spin and the pump delivers fuel but there is no spark because no pcb. What are the heating sinks? For some reason all the earth cables inside were scorched, I have replaced them now

Heat sinks are what shuts down the unit when at a certain temperature or not enough air flow to keep the unit cooled down enough. I can bypass many switch/computer things. This is as far I as go with fire. I did it one time, back in the 80's. My house burned down. I don't recommend you keep playing with this to make it work. Count it at a lose and move on.

I would take it to a good injection pump shop. Injection pumps are pretty finiky to work on. They require some special test equipment also. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

Locate the fuse box under the dash panel. Pull the fuses one at a time and inspect. They are very hard to judge if the fuse(s) are blown unless you pull them out to inspect.

SOURCE: power windows wont work on 94 grand cherokee.

You need to confirm power and ground at the switch. There should be at least two larger gauge wires to the switch. One will have switched ignition power (probably a red or orange wire) the other will have a constant ground (will likely be a black wire). If you don't have that you'll have to trace the wires back and see why. It most likely has a broken wire in the drivers door jam or a bad ground somewhere.

First check the ignition and battery fuses. Pull them and look. This also gets rid of a corrosion problem. If they are good , replace the ignition switch.

Brake Lights don't work on the back of our 2003 Ford Windstar

Did you actually check the brake light switch for power in and out ?
There are two different fuses, one for each side. And the circuit includes the turn signal switch.
The third brake light bypasses the turn signals.

91 jeep wont start

The neutral safety switch on those (auto trans) are a bit complex and expensive. They can be removed and serviced(other than buying a new or good used one, best to do). To bypass, use the two center contacts in the harness plug, opposite the plug latch. Don't forget though if you leave the toggle on, it will start in any gear!!l Do not leave harness unplugged if bypassed as shift solenoids in trans get their signal through the harness!
