92 Mazda pu left front brake was locking up replaced hose and caliper now both front brakes are locking up....why ????

SOURCE: left front caliper keeps locking

sounds like the flex line is crushed inside alowing the caliper to apply but not release.
The best way to tell is to pump up the brake pedal and get the caliper to lock up. Open the bleeder screw. If the wheel suddenly become easy to turn, the flex line is wrecked. If it is still hard to turn, there is a problem with your caliper.

Try replacing the brake hose to that caliper, they collapse on the inside.

SOURCE: replacing front driver side (F150) brake line (rubber hose)

Brake fluid is highly corrosive. If you can't get the line loose on the frame side then I would suggest replacing the hard line as well coming from the master cylinder. Or if you have a flaring tool you could cut the hard line just behind the rubber and put a new fitting on it. Pretty easy if you have the tool. Essentially you will wind up kinking or breaking the hard line anyway if the fitting won't come loose easy.

Try having the dealer flush and bleed your system. It is very hard to bleed ABS systems yourself and have safe brakes that still work afterward. Bleeding non-ABS brakes yourself is easy not the same for ABS brakes. Valving, sensors and what-not require a tech and the correct equipment in my opinion. You do it wrong and you could ruin your ABS system. Do that and see if they firm up. I replaced my brake shoes/pads at the same time all new everything in back, drums/springs everything and new rotors up front. then I had the chevy dealer flush, refill and bleed system. Stiffer pedal and brakes work better. Keep in mind the brakes on 99 Tahoes are inaedequate, require new rotors often, heat up and fade/glaze pads regularly. I replace my pads long before they wear down because they glaze up and start fading early. I'll rough em up once maybe, next time, new ones. Every two brake jobs, new rotors for me. Just how it is. They will stiffen a bit and work better but they will never be awesome brakes. Just how it is on 99 and earlier Tahoes. Hope it helps. Very important to bleed correctly though. I'll bleed my 83 Toyota 4x4 myself but not the Tahoe.

Your vehicle should have rear drum brakes...They have to be adjusted manually for correct adjustment...People say they self adjust but it is not good enough....by adjusting the rear it will decrease the pressure on the front and deliver equal braking...This will help eliminate caliper pressure overload....I'm not saying that is your caliper problem but it is insult to injury and will save the life of front brakes.....Now your caliper problem..FYI..A rule of thumb is anytime you change a caliper you should always replace both calipers to have identical braking pressure".The same with brake hoses and rear wheel cylinders.....The caliper that froze in the first place got hot and boiled the brake fluid and quite possibly partially collapsed the caliper brake line/hose inside as Clint and Frank stated....I am going to guess that the first caliper froze under normal conditions however got hot enough to internally damage the caliper line/hose...Then you may think of the pressure regulator being bad in which case could be a problem......So this is what you do".Since we know the left front caliper line/hose has been exposed to heat it needs to be replaced anyway...also the fluid was boiled and it needs to be changed / bled...The new caliper that froze should be ok unless it was bad off the shelf which is rare but possible."..Change the line/hose,bleed the brake system and let the mechanic test drive before you pay and leave..The mechanic will know before driving if the new caliper that froze is bad or not by rotating the wheel...This is the cheapest way...And you will know if the pressure regulator is bad or not just by bleeding system........I hope this helps....."Brooks/Metalpoet....."....

Front driver side brakes locking up


i replaced the caliper and then the caliper brake hose, and i drive it 3 to 6 miles and drivers side hangs up again, let it set for about 20 minutes and then i can drive it another 6 miles before it hangs up again, new brakes, new caliper, new hose, so what is making my front drivers side brake hang up?

check your pressure hose connected to the caliper,also check whether your brakes master cylinder is not faulty,abs sending unit ,or if you have changed the brake pads in front see whether the back metal side of the pad is fair face and not any curve or uneven surface,because had happened to me .

Mazda drifter 2.5 diesel pulls left when brakeing


it could be that the right side caliper is stuck in the open condition. there is something blocking the brake fluid to the caliper or the piston is defective and is stopped mechanicly. jack up and block truck remove front tires, with a helper have them push on the brakes while you observe the calipers if the left piston moves and the right doesn't then you have found the problem. now trouble shoot unscrew the bleeder valve and have assistant push on the brakes. If fluid comes out then it is the caliper. If no fluid then work your way back toward the master cylinder at every connection. sometimes the rubber hoses that go to the caliper rot from the inside out causing a no fluid getting thru problem. hope this helps

What is causing left front caliper to continually fail. Is it related to anti lock brake system?


The hose could be collapsed internally holding residual pressure and keping the pads applied. Also make sure that the caliper is sliding free side to side.

I have a 2004 Mazda MPV with some wierd brake issues. I found what appeared to be a bad caliper on front passenger side, and replaced with a new one, yet this same wheel continues to seize up. What is...


If the caliper is seizing and it is not the caliper it is the module that controls how the brake fluid is distributed. I don't have my book in front of me at the moment but when you look under teh hood on teh drivers side you will see a block that has the brake lines coming out of it. That is part of teh ABS system is one is installed and is a master brake control hub if it ABS isn't installed. being that new I would assume it was equipped with ABS. There are a couple of ways you can test if this is teh problem. If I remember correctly the MPV brakes with all 4 brakes, that means you can, as a temp test, switch the lines to see if the caliper problem changes to the different caliper. If it does then you know for a fact it is that unit and not the caliper. Also, something to consider, the caliper that is locking maybe locking because the problem is actually the caliper on the opposite side. If the caliper on the left front is stuck in the open position, on occasion that will cause too much fluid pressure to the right front giving you the impression the problem is the right side and it isn't. This is rare but certainly a possibility. As a general rule you should always replace Calipers in pairs. If you replace the right front you should replace the left front, same with the rear calipers.
