2006 ford focus front end noise stops when applying brake


saw your other post and thought you just let it go for 2 years.
did they change the rotors? an imperfection in the rotor can cause it to make a noise, you would think that the first mechanic would have changed out the rotors and pads to rule it out, i doubt it would be the caliper because it is not close enough, did they check the bearing and axle?

1999 ford Taurus shifting hard pulled over and would not go into gear. There is a metal line at the front left that is loose and dripping fluid..could the fix be that simple?


No,this problems are very hard to fixed.The inter chamber of the car transmission gears shift and parts are cracks or damages very badly to caused to have oil leakages to the car frame or to the ground.Must have the professional transmission specialist to fixed transmission parts and changes gears and parts.Tries Auto mechanics places that have transmission specialist like AMGO or PEPBOY for example.

open your hood. check if the power steering liquird reservoir is not full. if yes, trace the hose attached to the reservoir and check if there are leaks in the hose. if you cant find the leak, go to your nearest mechanic and inform him that you have a leaking power steering.

regarding your problem on gears, change your transmission oil and check if this resolves your problem. if not, find a reliable transmission mechanic to give you a details diagnostic of your problem. the common cause of this "gears issue" are transmission oil and synchronizer. only experienced transmission mechanics should replace this part.

I have a MK IV ford fiesta and require the gearbox oil capacity. The vehicle is a 1998 1.8D, endure engine


good old fiesta with a endure engine ,run for ever this motor maybe not the fastest thing on 4 wheels but what a work tool ,anyway gearbox oil is EP 90 and if its completely empty then i would expect to top up to the filler plug with around 3 pints 1.9 litres acording to my alldata book .but then i always pump a grease gun full of LM grease into a box as well then top up with the EP oil as this grease settles to the bottom of the box and seals up any leaks in the casing .Old fleet fitters trick from the days when mechanics were mechanics and not unit changers

Car suddenly stopped. Couldnt move, mechanics say the gear box is bad but gear oil stil available. Had to tow the car home. What could be the problem?


I'll have to make some assumptions to answer this question. I'm assuming that you have a manual transmission and I'm assuming that you had a real mechanic (not a tow truck operator or gas station attendant!) take a look at the problem in depth. If that's the case, and if it has already been properly determined that the rest of the drive line--including the clutch--is not the issue, then the problems with the manual transmission can include:

--a cracked gear
--a cracked or broken gear shaft
--a seized or spun bearing
--a locked synchronizer preventing the changing of gears.

Any of these internal issues mean that you will be buying a rebuilt or a used transmission. In the old days, mechanics would take transmissions apart, fix the problem, and replace the same trans back in the car. Today, especially with the more complicated front drive systems, mechanics will just swap out the trans for a used one or a model rebuilt by a factory or a specialist. I imagine the cost will be substantial if all of these assumptions I've made are true.
