I have a knock sensor error code where is it located on my 93 buick lesabre

Knock sensors are but microphones ******* into the block and inter the water jacket or coolant to listen for predetination it is possible to have two on late nineties and up GM vehicles . on front wheel drive on back and or front of block. They look similar to a sending unit they have a pipe thread anc can be hollow so care should be taken loosening the so as not to break it off. As it is in the water jacket engine should be cool and coolant drained before removal first check wires and connections also some can become clogged with coolant system corrosion and debris and cleaning and reinstalling can do the trick but replacement is best. Ignition timing issues could involve knock sensor code and could be part of larger problem.

Leather product give best or not?

real leather products are very good if maintained properly
wears well and always looks good
there is a leather product on the market that is made up of leather shavings that are glued and compressed under heat ( composite leather )
Looks very real , is used extensively in house upholstery, car seats , hand bags , half the price of real leather but after a while it de-laminates and falls apart
If you car is less that $20.000 with leather seats, there is every chance that it is composite leather and after a period of say 5 years will show signs of delamination
If you have a leather sofa ( lounge ) for around the $2.000.00 price there is every possibility that it is composite leather and will look bad after 3 years of family service
If on the other hand your vehicle is over $100k then there will be a tag saying genuine animal leather and that will last longer than the car

How to Clean Auto Leather

I use Griot's Garage leather care products and have been very pleased with the results. Thy have a leather care spray that will clean light dirt, but very dirty leather may require an interior cleaner that is PH blanced so it does not dry the leather out. Then after the leather is clean, allow it to warm in the sun and apply leather care, leather 3 in 1 or leather rejuvenator, all excellent products, that will sink into the leather and keep it supple and prevent cracking. I would not use shoe cleaner as that leather is dyed differently and may be too harsh for fine leather as is used on vehicle seats. Also keep in mind that in most vehicles, only the leather "seating surfaces" are actually leather, the rest is matching vinyl so be sure to test anything you use on a non-visible spot first.

As for repairs, there are kits available to repair holes and rips. Many are simple and require a small patch behind the leather and the placing of a color matched "goo" on top of the patch and pressing of a grained paper over the goo to resemble the leather graining, so it looks similar when dried.

Best of luck.

What is the best product for revitalising soft leather upholstery on a Bentley Turbo R?

Hi Tim

I trust you are well

I would suggest using Dubin it is an all round leaher protection just make sure once you have applied it and let it dry that you polish it to make sure it does not mark your clothes alternatively you can buy a "leather Food" product. Try speaking to someone who rides horses they normally have leaher care products that they use on their saddles and leather products.

Hope this helps

kind regards

My 1996 dodge neon has a crack in the dash by the defrost vent. is there a simple fix?

This depends on the type of crack ... if it is from the sun drying out the material and shrinking it a quick-fix will probably suffer the same fate and look worse when it happens. If the crack is from abuse (like when I threw a bunch of 2x4 lumber on mine and caused a crack) then you might be able to find some repair goo for it -- ask at an auto-parts store and they might have it ("repair goo" is not the real name of the material, but I don't know the real name off hand). Make sure you let the person who is helping you know whether your dash is real leather or synthetic material as the type of repair fluid used will vary with color and type of material to be repaired.
If you have a real-leather dash you might even be able to go to a leather-goods store and find a repair fluid there -- it would be basically the same as fixing a tear in a leather jacket. I know that the repair fluid exists, but I do not know the name ... just that I have seen it advertised on late-night television.
If you can't find a repair fluid that will work with the material that your dash is made from, or if your crack is caused by sun-aging of the material, you might have to replace the piece of the dash panel that is cracked to get rid of the damage. Just bare in mind that if your dash is sun-faded it will be very difficult to match the exact color with a replacement .. and you might be more annoyed with the color difference than you were with the crack.
