Question about Kia Rio

Open Question

I have a leak on my Kia Rio manual transmission, where the drain plug is there are two parts of the transmission that come together and this gasket is leaking. What is this gasket/diagrams/advice? :)

2001 Kia Rio 5 speed 120,000 miles. Wondering if its even worth fixing. Very little mechanical information/diagrams on this car, makes it difficult to work on haha. All help is very appreciated

First off I don't think I will be able to answer all your questions but to get a smother ride your going towant to replace the shocks. They army to expensive. Yes a old spark pulg can cause a missfire. A miss fire is when the spark plug doesn't spam in the right area if it were grounding that could be considereda miss fire or if it is not firing at the correct time. The trany fluid keeps yours gears lubricated so they work smothly and helps with cooling. The best way to find out your fluid type is to go to the autoparts store and ask them and they can look it up for you and I would say your braek fluid would be a DOT 4 and your tranny probobly takes like a 60-75 weight oil but I'm not sure I say ask them to be sure.

Instrructions on replacing a rear main seal on 2004 kia rio

Oil leaking "in" your valve cover? Where is the oil at/coming from? And, to answar your question, rear main seal is a real job! Requires removing transmission, flex plate/fly wheel! It is the crank shaft seal, on the "rear" of the engine!

Is there a drain plug on kia rio 2003 automatic transmission to change oil and how many leater is needed to change the oil.

Most cars, you have to drop the entire transmission pan to drain out the fluid. You have to buy a new pan gasket and filter too. Use Dexron VI transmission fluid. Total 5.9 liters. This is probably for the total system capacity. When you drop the pan, only about half of the transmission fluid drains out of the system. Only a professional shop can push out all of the transmission fluid.

2003 kia rio how to change automatic transmission oil

find the transmission oil pan. It may have a drain plug on it. Drain it measuring how much came out and put the same amount in. Then start vehicle and while on the brake shift through all gears. then check the level with the dipstick. If there is no drain plug it must be flushed by a shop. Or you can drop the oil pan and replace it with a new gasket.

How to change oil pan gasket on kia rio 2003

drain the oil first , remove the bolts around the oil pan and ease away from bottom of engine block, make sure you clean off the old gasket thoroughly , use some liquid gasket , very small amount if your fitting a ready made gasket to hold it in place ,otherwise use the liquid gasket as per the instructions, change the oil filter as well, refit the drain bolt and refill with oil run for a few minutes recheck level , top up if required and check new gasket for leaks

2002 Rio how to change auto transmition fluid?

  1. Set the parking brake and jack the CAR UP AND SET JACK STANDS UNDER IT
  2. Remove the drain pan: Remove the bolts holding the drain pan to the bottom of the transmission. This might get a little messy, but it would be worse if you hadn't already removed most of the fluid.
  3. Clean the drain pan: Use some transmission fluid and thoroughly clean the inside of the drain pan. Remove all metal shavings, sludge, and debris. Also clean all of the metal shavings from the magnets on the bottom of the pan.
  4. Replace and the filter: Remove the filter and replace with a new filter. Don't waste time trying to clean a filter to reuse it; always replace the filter when you change the transmission fluid. Make sure that the O-rings on the new filter are seated properly.
  5. Replace the gasket: It's usually best to replace the gasket sealing the drain pan. You may be able to improve the seal by using black RTV adhesive.
  6. Install the pan: Once the filter and gasket are in place, put the pan back onto the transmission. Hand-thread the bolts for the first few turns so that you won't strip the threading. Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts to the appropriate tightness. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the bolts. This can damage the threads in the transmission and dent the pan.
  7. Fill with automatic transmission fluid: Check your owner's manual to determine the correct type and amount of fluid to use in your car. This is usually Dextron III type fluid, but check your owner's manual just in case your car requires a different type. Check the fluid level using the dipstick with the engine running and the transmission in park. Be careful that you do not add too much fluid.
