The wire should not be hot until the relay is triggered. The relay does not get triggered until the ignition key is turned on. It will run for 3-5 seconds or until the system pressure it at max.

Check your vehicles safeties. Your ECM is probably programed for engine shutdown if it senses low oil pressure or low coolant level. Do a preliminary check.

Run circuit = Key on- hot wire to coil + terminal. Coil-- goes to distributor. Cranking circuit. Hot wire to stsrter relay s post . One of the two small posts. Battery. + to relay +out of relay to starter.Battery -- to engine for a ground. I hope this helps, Good Luck, Ned

when running your car ur battery should be around 12.4v to 13.2v ur car runs off the alternator and should be putting out more the 12 volts bc of all the assesories in ur car need more then 12volts there are no problems with ur car it should be like that
