You have a short in the wireing...easiest way is to put new piece of wire from bulb holder and connect it back into the harness further into the car...........

My dash lights not working? taillights not working? fuses keep blowing?

the fuse for the tail lights blowing all the time indicates a dead short in that circuit
first place to check is the bulbs and the condition of the bulb holders
a single point bulb in a 2 point holder will cause the short as will corroded wires /broken wires

Why does my tail light fuse keep blowing ?

Check the bulb and socket to ensure they are properly mated. Physically inspect the socket to ensure nothing is shorting it out.

Replace the bulb - making sure it is the correct bulb per your owner's manual, and try try again.

How do i change headlight bulb on citroen berlingo

Being the new style, go under hood to back of the headlight and unplug the wire from the bulb, twist the bulb retainer ring off and remove the bulb from the bucket receptacle. Put a new bulb in the same way BUT be sure to wipe ANY oil from bulb where fingers may have touched the glass of the bulb for this oil will make the bulb blow out when heated from being turned on. Put the retainer ring back on and reconnect the wires. Done.

1987 ford ranger turn signals keep blowing fuses. have changed flasher fuse and switch on column. just keeps blowing?

first thing i guess to understand what is going on here ,is a little back to basics on how turnsignals work , first item you have is power fuse then it's off to flasher module than it goes to the turnsignal switch on colum ,of course anywhere on it way to there the power could got to ground and cause the fuse to trip, now the power depending on Left or right selection , is directed to lights on both front and back of truck, thankfully rangers don't have em on the side) now any place in this pathway the wire could go to ground and blow the fuse, now to troubleshoot and narrow down the area that fault is located , (1) replace fuse with correct size and ck for proper fit in fusebox and start and operate truck for a few minutes DO not use turnsignals, ck fuse is it still good if so go to step 2 if not stop and ck wire conditions in steering colum and switch(2) start truck and try right hand turn signal only verify lights working ,Ok yes/no if not replace fuse and try left side same way, Ok yes /no if right or left side only blows fuses take ALL bulbS OUT of lights and try again , if fuse still blows then look for wire fault on that side of truck if fuse is still good then look carefull at light bulb sockets for rust and powered corrosion (ill bet an 87 has some ) you may need to replace bulb sockets , they do sell em in autoparts stores .

No turn signals,no flashers keep blowing fuses .are fusestoo small

Presuming that the maximum load that the indicators can draw is with the hazzards on, this would be 4 x 21w bulbs, maybe 2 x 6w repeaters. Throw in another 10w load for the relay its self and the dashboard indicator and your total load is about 110 watts.

110 watts / 12 volts says that your load is 9.2 amps tops. So a 10 amp fuse should be man enough. You might want to see what happens with a 15 amp fuse, but that's probably pretty much overkill. The lid of your fuse box SHOULD have the fuse ratings for each of the positions in the box imprinted on it.

I would suggest that the bottom line here is that if you are popping 15 amp fuses, you probably have a short somewhere.

Thoughts about how to fix this. While the usual effect of a bulb blowing is for it to fail OPEN circuit (The fillament in the bulb that lows burns out and there is nothing there), very rarely, when a bulb blows, it goes SHORT circuit (Part of the fillament will burn and cause the electrodes it hangs from to get welded together). This is a possible cause for a short.

Your first action should be to see if the fuses blow when you turn left, or right, or both. Chances are that it will only be on one side.

Now you have identified the side that the problem is on, remove the front and rear indicator bulbs (if it has repeaters in the wing and you can get this bulb out too, do so. Now engage the indicator again. Does the fuse still blow? (you will probably hear the relay clicking wildly because it has no bulbs to fire up, this is not important, the integrity of the fuse is.

If you have got this far, either start putting bulbs back, one at a time and seeing if the fuse pops. At the moment that the fuse DOES pop, you have found the faulty bulb. Or, if you got as far as the fuse surviving with the bulbs out, you may just want to replace all the bulbs on that side. Unimportant how you go about this, so long as you have a few spare fuses.

IF however removing all the bulbs on the affected side still blows fuses when you engage the signal, then you have a short somewhere in the wiring. Favorite places are in the wiring loom between the bulb holder and the point where the wires are wrapped in black tape. Cherck for chafing of a wire. If you find some and the wire core is exposed, simply tape it up with insulating tape to fix it.

Hope this helps. Please drop a note on this thread and let me know how you get on and if you need further help.

If it does

Directional problem fuse blown

The bulbs could be ok. That means your car has a short circuit on the left side which is causing the blowing of the fuse every time you intend to switch the left indicator.
