Replace the battery and have the voltage regulator replaced
the output voltage may have damaged the ECM so when the rest is fixed substitute the ecm with a known good one

95 dakota, randomly dies, then sometimes wont start. Sometimes might start right after it dies. Dies while driving in gear going down the road. It has spark, its a v8 5.2?

This is a common issue with Dakotas of all engine sizes. I have a 99 Dakota and it did the same thing. The usual culprit is the crankshaft position sensor. They are relatively cheap (as far as parts go), and are easy to replace. I would try that first. The interesting thing about them failing is that they rarely set an Engine Failure Code.

2001 Dakota wont start. Died at a red light and would not start back up. Check for trouble codes but had none.

If a vehicle won't start, it's one of two things: no spark, or no fuel. If the vehicle is turning over, you can check for bad coils, distributor cap/points, or bad spark plugs/wires. On the other end, you can check for clogged fuel injectors/carburetor, clogged fuel filter, etc.

If no spark check out the wiring in ignition circuit along with your ecm which fires the plugs.

I have a 92 dakota it would randomly die while i was driving so we replaced the crank shaft sensor then it ran fine for a couple months then now last week it died again but it isnt the same sensor my...

Possibly fuel pump. can you here the pump buzz with key on? hold key to start & have someone hit bottom of fuel tank (where pump is) If start = fuel pump. There aren't many things that will make a car not run. You need to check for fuel, spark, airflow 1st.

Is that capacitor wired in such a way that it could be feeding back? I'd remove it for a while & see what happens.Hopefully some damage hasn't already been done, if that was the cause.
