I just removed my radio today from my 2003 windstar. i bought the "radio removal tool" from ford (8 bucks) but could have used a wire coat hanger. The trick is to insert the tool/hanger into the holes and push them to the outside like your spreading them. the radio comes loose , no tugging or prying.

lift arms off windshield there should be a little *** on side that pulls out. / if not there should be small holes near base. slide a pick or small allen through holes when arm is lifted off windshield. with ***/pick in place( wipers shouldn't be touching windshield) arms will wiggle right off

any auto parts store should have one,if you are unable to get one you can also use a small flat pry bar,the trick is make sure you find the keepers and apply light pressure with the bar as close to them as possible, you might want to work back and forth from one side of the keeper to the other until it pops free.
