It is in the right front side of the center console. It is also a programable module.
.They don't call it the GEM anymore it is now called the Smart Junction Box.

B2296 = Crash sensor communications fault.
B2477 = Airbag Control Module configuration failure.

First of all you should access the Airbag Control Module using suitable diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to unlock it. When a new SRS (Airbag) Control Module is replaced in the car, it is "locked" by default from safety reasons. After SRS Control Module unlocking you will be able to correctly configure it. For example: with frontal and lateral curtain airbags & crash sensors, with retract safety belts, ...
Then you will erase all DTC faults from SRS Control Module. I guess that the B2296 fault is caused by the B2477 fault code.

Hi. I bought a 2015 Ford Escape in the fall of 2015. Since I purchased it. I have had nothing but problems with the computer. It's been a year and a half and no one can seam to fix it.

Have you had someone hookup an OBD reader to your escape? What kind of problems are you having. You could always try unhooking the positive battery for a minute or get someone else to do it to see if that changes anything.

Air bag deployment 2006 ford escape

You can still drive the car, just cut the air bag off. There is a lot more in repairing a deployed SRS than just replacing the steering wheel.

you should only have to place the front crash sensor and both air bags and you may have to replace the clock spring behind the steering wheel it usually breaks after an impact i would recommend you have a qualified technician do this work
