Question about 2003 Chevrolet Malibu

2 Answers

Do I need an A/C compressor in a 2003 Chevy Malibu? And if not what's the safest way to disable it? I really don't need the A/C but it rattles like crazy when it tries to kick on.

Pull the fuse or relay for it. Should make sure it is the A/C compressor. Could be the belt tensioner making the noise.

There will be a fuse for the compressor. Or, unhook the wire at the compressor clutch.

SOURCE: On my 2003 Chevy Silverado, the A/C compressor

either the fuse, relay, low pressure switch on the low side line near the receiver, your actually low on R-12 freon/refrigerant R134a,or the magnetic coil that holds the clutch in to turn the compressor is bad,you can test all the above problems with a 12 volt tester and a manifold gauge for refrigerant and add R134a legally, but you need a license to purchase R-12 and install it

Only if theft light is flashing, then it would need to be reset, to reset turn key to on and wait till theft light stops flashing about 10mim or so, then turn key to off and back to start engine.

cant be disabled. I would have the dealer or a good repair shop diagnose and recommend repairs. Could be key or the lock cylinder/ sensor problem

2003 Malibu repeated Air conditioner failure

None of the repairs work , If the system is not entirely flushed out, dryers, expansion valves and the like are replaced. If the original problem involved compressor failure, tiny bits of medal and debris may be still circulating in the system and casing other components in that system to fail. Someone does not know what they are doing.

2003 Chevy Malibu driver's window won't work

If it is a very loud noise, then it may be the window regulator. This is the assembly that the motor and glass bolt to. The door panel would have to come off to inspect.
