You need to check that fault code, you have a misfiring engine cylinder. The fault code will indicate which cylinder or cylinders is casing the misfire. Go to any Autozone and have the fault code read, tell them you have a check eng light on.

SOURCE: engine light on my 1999 windstar is blinking

the windstars are very bad for cracked ignition coils, to check you have to remove the coil, remove spark plug wires from coil, disconnect main harness from coil and remove the 3 7mm bolts that hold it in place, once it is out inspect it for cracks, if it is the coil expect to pay around $105 for a new one from your Ford dealer

SOURCE: Fuel injectors or Distributor Cap?

the blinking CEL light is an indication of a miss-fire, run the code retrival test to find out what cylinder is the one missing, at your miles it could be almost anything from a low compression issue to a bad distributor cap, a fuel injector could be the problem, run the test and get back to me, Kragen and other chain parts stores will test the system for codes for FREE!

SOURCE: 01 taurus v6, chugging @idle & acceler. engine light blinking

Drop in to autozone, or Pep boys and have it scanned, free, for trouble codes then go from there. Could be something simple & cheap

SOURCE: check engine light blinks

Ok, i would ave the ignition coil pack tested for its operational valve asap if possible. this is either an ignition coil pack issue or, a bad ECM. the ECM controls the ignition timing in this vehicle so, the problem will be there if the crank shaft sensor and cam sensors are ok.

I would pull the trouble codes asap as well. this will help diagnosis this issue correctly. this can be done at a local auto zone or a local mechanics shop as well.

Any check engine light or codes blinking. No. Change gas station, put in a good fuel treatment to clean up your plugs and sensors. Or get a can of seafoam and inject into vehicle combustion as instructed.. Use premium.

Im not out of gas

There are several conditions which might cause this. The most imprtant thing is to see if there is a trouble code in the ECM, the computer. Is your check engine light blinking? If so get the ECM scanned to see what the trouble code is. Then you will have a good indication.
If the light is not blinking, check to see it has not failed by looking to see if it comes on then goes out when you start the engine.
Some thing which may cause this fault are
Manifold absolute pressure sensor fault (MAP sensor)
Fuel pump faulty - low pressure
Fuel pressure regulator faulty
Fuel injector faulty
Ignition fault, plug, wires, coil, igniter, distributor
So you can see the importance of narrowing this down. The ECM probably does have a code in it so try that first.

replace the IAC, idle air control valve at throttle body. replace fuel fiter, put drygas in tank, todays fuel w/ethenol is bad news for older vehicles.

Check engine light blinking Put new plugs and

a blinking MIL (malfunction indicator light) means the computer is sensing a serious fault in its feedback

usually it indicates that emission levels are 1.5x's the legal limit

your vehicle may still run ok but it is causing serious damage to your catalytic converter and if left untreated may result in other serious vehicle concerns

first thing you have to do is find out what code(s) are present and then begin diagnoses

is your vehicle running poorly?
any smoke from the tailpipe?
have you replaced the spark plug wires?
have you replaced the fuel filter?

keep us posted

look your ignition coil over really good for cracks could be shorting to the engine. also use carb cleaner and spray your intake real good all over listen for a change in the sound of the motor for vacum leaks.

Hi krisberg,

With the engine check light blinking, it would be a good idea to drive past the dealers and have them do a scan on the vehicle....You may be having a problem with the fuel pump....The pressure return valve or the throttle body.....Could also be a number of other defects which will cause the problem that you're having.....A scan will tell you what the problem is without having to guess

All the best Johngee10
