Multiple check engine light codes set, 20 to be exact. engine ran rough for a few minutes then after engine was turned off & back on again engine ran smooth.

I don't know what vehicle this is, but it is not uncommon for the inter-module communications system (links between computer modules in the vehicle) to have an intermittent problem ("hiccup") due to a voltage transient, which can set all sorts of DTCs. If this is the case, restarting the vehicle will reset all modules but will hold history DTCs in the ECM. Reset the codes with a code scanner, and periodically monitor the ECM with it to see if you have an ongoing problem.

What does it mean when the check engine soon warning light comes one?

If you read your owners manual you will learn something,
not much, but have to start somewhere

Check lights have been on all vehicles since 1983, some
31 years. SO--I don't know what to tell you, when you say
you don't know what it means

You can speculate all you want, what you need to do is check for
codes, again what most people have done for 3 decades, look
them up & then have a repair shop diagnose the code fault

You provided no vehicle year,engine,OBD2 Codes

Have no vehicle history on maintenance,or if someone
just put the problem in there

I have a 2007 Mercury Monterey with two cluster problems, Radio and Odometer. Should I fix it or does this mean the car is going to have a lot more problems. Should I just get rid of it.

The vehicle is only 6 years old

The next one you buy will have issues,
& so on, the rest of your life, so I don't see
where your going here

If you don't care for it or it doesn't fill your
needs & need something different, that is one thing

My answer is --- are you all in cash & no debt whatsoever,
anywhere? No mortgage, nothing & lots of speculative cash
you can afford to loose? If so buy a different vehicle

You are going to have more problems with all vehicles you
will ever own,at least once a year, with todays technology,
that is a given

When do you know that you need the timing belt change in a ford aspire 1995 model if you don't have the history of the car?

Honestly there is no way with out the maintence history. The timing belt is located under a cover bolted to the front of the motor. Typically the belt is replaced between 60,000 and 100,000 miles pending on what the OEM recomends. You could try to contact your local Ford dealer's service or parts dept. If you give them the VIN number for your vehicle (located on the dash or on the drivers door) they should be able to look up the maintence history for that vehicle done at the dealer. If the belt was replaced by the dealer they would have the record of it. Otherwise, your only other option is to take the timing belt cover off and inspect to see if it is worn out, but if your going to go thru that hastle, you might as well replace the belt anyway.

I have a 2001 Chevy Venture. The vehicle is hard to start when it is cold or after it has been running. Once it starts, itruns fine. Also has a engine code lean bank one. I know one of the issues could be...

I have never heard of a major tune-up

All vehicle tuning has been done by
on board computers since 1980
some 30 years

Spark plug wires last the life of the vehicle
They only get replaced when they fail.
I had 1 wire fail in 46 years,personally

You do not have both an Ignition Module
as well as Coil Packs. They are installed
in two different systems

Any dash light you get & again they have
been there for 30 years, you retrieve any codes
within a couple days, diagnose code issues first
& repair. You have O2Sensor Codes
They wouldn't effect hard start problems

I would check fuel pressure with a gauge
Also Fuel Pressure Regulator

Vacuum Leaks
At least clean the MAF Sensor
Check TPS Sensor

Basically you need your vehicle tested in all

There is a serious misconception that a
tune-up ,spark plugs etc are a cure all

I don't even start there when diagnosing
anything. You could throw away 2 plugs
& it would still start

I want to see what does work & how

Spark Plugs & other items you can get
from the vehicle history & past maintainance

I am looking at buying a 2001 s600 mercedes and i don't know much about the vehicle and the v12. most of the ones i have looked at are right around 80,000 to 90,000 miles i am just curious one what to...

if you are going to by a S 600 it's really good car as you know the life of car depend on how you treat it, if you maintain it the right way don't worry it's a really good one, when get old some electrical fault can occur it's normal for all the cars not only the S600, so it's really smooth and powerful car before you by it you must check is the previous owner has maintain it properly or not, that's the most important thing check the service history and repair history if the car have been maintain by Mercedes dealer it's be a good car, if you do right way if it's over half million mile not be a problem

Forget an expensive purchase 500 miles away. Are you going there to check it out. Get the VIN # and run it at any GM Dealer and you will know more than it's current owner
