My glow plug light flashes intermittently with engine loss of power or failure. \\please advise.

Common problem is the EGR valve. Best starting point is for you to have a scan done to get the stored fault code. Do you have the 2.0 or 2.2 engine?

Jaguar x type...started the car 2day when i put my foot on the accelerator there was no speed...i can put my foot all the way down and no speed its got no acceleration...its driving but slow...

if there is also black smoke coming out the exhaust - and the problem is intermittent - then it's the EGR valve - it sticks open - will need replacing.... Happened to mine this morning and this is what the Jaguar Assistance guy said. Mine is a 2006 2 litre X-type.

Runs rough cold great hot

The EGR valve is fully closed when cold and opens when the engine warms up to normal operating temprature. Check the EGR valve to see if its closed when the engine is cold. If opened replace it

Feb 2006 Jaguar S-type 2700cc manual diesal - have recurrent problem with restricted performance displayed evry few days but goes away overnight, not logged on 'system', Jaguar dealership can't find...

Hi
Get the EGR valve checked out, this is a Exhaust Gas Recycler valve, this is what they do sometimes work sometimes dont. it basically re-uses any unburnt fuel and forces it back into the engine, when they start to fail you normally only get about 4000 rpm, as this is not constant it may just be dirty, loacte the part remove it and clean it with carb cleaner, if you need more info please let me know and I will talk you through it.
