SOURCE: 1988 honda civic 1.5 l engine turns over but will

well if this is the model i think it is you have pgm ignition. you have an ignition coil , ignitor unit, ground wires all(corrosion) left to check.
coil testing

  1. With ignition switch OFF, remove the distributor cap.
  2. Remove the two screws to disconnect the BLK/YEL front terminal A and WHT/BLU from terminal B of the coil.
  3. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between terminals. Replace coil if resistance is not within specification.
  4. Check that the primary winding resistance between terminals A and B is 0.3-0.5 ohms.
  5. Check that the secondary winding resistance between terminals A and the coil tower is 9,440-14,160 ohms.
  6. If not within specifications, replace the coil.

unit testing
    1. Check and service any Honda engine codes before proceeding.
    2. Check the No. 32 50A fuse on 1985-91 models, or the No. 39 50A fuse on 1992-95 models in the dash fuse box before testing.
    3. Remove the distributor cap, rotor and the leak cover.
    4. Disconnect the wires from the igniter.
    5. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    6. Check for voltage between the BLK/YEL wire and ground. If there is no voltage check the BLK/YEL wire and ignition switch.
    7. Check for voltage between the WHT/BLU wire and ground. If there is no voltage check the WHT/BLU wire and the ignition coil.
    8. Check the continuity between the WHT wire and body ground. Service the wire or connectors as needed.
    9. Check for continuity between the BLU wire and body ground. If no continuity check the wire and connectors between the igniter unit and the
tachometer or the A/Trans control unit.

after these things let me know if problem persists
    1. If any tests were not passed, replace the igniter unit.

There is no test for module in distributor, but they often cause this kind of problem. Also while in there, check the pickup coil wires to make sure they are intact.

Check your fuel filter and air filter. That is usually where your hesitation starts.

No spark 4.3 vortex I put wew coil wiers cap roter plug this happens when it si cold out side. Wonce it start up it will keep starting

I believe that model has a ballast resistor. If so replace it. You can short it out for a few seconds to see if that resolves the problem, if so it is definitely bad.

I have an Acura tl 98 its missing fire #4 what could be?

Misfires are caused by fuel delivery problems, injectors or too rich or weak. Spark issues, coil, wires, spark plugs or the cap and roter.
I could also be a loss of compression. First thing to check is the easiest... spark plugs, spark and cap and roter. Also the cheapest.

Have no spark. New coil, contr. mod. test good, new crank sens.,new cap and roter

Check for voltage going to coil. If it was running before you replaced the items listed try putting the old cap and rotor back on. Also, check that the firing order at the cap and cylinders is correct.

Car wont start in the rain/cold weather changed everything electrcal wires /plugs /roter/ spark plugs /all sensors /still wont start cant go to work /do nothing

Check for fuel delivery problem by spraying starting fluid into the intake and observing whether it starts for a few seconds or not. If it does start, and dies, then the fuel pump may be at fault. If it doesn't start at all, check for spark with a spark tester off of one of the spark plug wires.

Hi, i have a 1991 isuzu rodeo with a 3.1 v6 5sp 4x4 with tbi. It starts ok when its cold and seems to run just fine however once its warmed up if you shut it down it wont restart. this was a sudden thing....

You might want to check the coil after the engine has wormed up to see if it is breaking down and not fireing the spark plugs. Use an in line spark tester to check between the coil and the spark plug wires to see if it is firing the plugs after the engine has gotten worm. Have someone to turn the engine over while you watch the tester for fire. Hope this will help you.

Car will start once and wen you turn it off it will not star again til the next day , i have change the coil , cap , and roter , and stil no spark

if it is a four cylinder engine you need to replace the pick up coil under the cap, remove cap,and rotor, the black round piece next is faulty, just pull it up out and disconnect the wire connector.
