Installed a circulation heater in a 2003 Highlander, now very little heat in the cab

is there a check valve in the kit? I would have thought the flow would be to the heater core ,otherwise the core won't get hot water.

How can i troubleshoot my heater core

It's just a simple small radiator. Coolant circulates through it, and the cores' fins give off heat that is picked up by the blower motor.
When the engine is at normal operating temperature, feel the two heater hoses. Both should be hot, verifying coolant is circulating through it. If only one is hot, the core may be plugged or have an air block. You can take off the core outlet hose and observe stream flow when engine is running and heater on high heat-flow should be slow but steady. The outlet hose will run from the firewall to the front of the engine into a fitting near the water pump. Some cars have a water valve in one of the hoses-make sure it is open, for coolant to circulate.

Yes it would overheat without circulation, but the coolant doesn't circulate through the overflow tank. That reservoir only gets coolant into it when the coolant gets hot and expands and pushes the radiator cap seal up to let coolant into the reservoir. When the vehicle cools down, the coolant contracts and the lower level in the radiator will siphon the coolant out of the reservoir back into the radiator. Coolant circulation is from the engine to the radiator and back into the engine...and also through the heater core.
You may have an air block in the heater core. Check by taking off the outlet hose at the firewall or at the engine and see if you have a slow steady stream of coolant, with the engine running and heater controls on high heat. If it was an air block, a steady stream should quickly start. If you get little or no flow, the core may be plugged and need flushing backward or replaced.

Will my coolant not circulate if my heater core is out? If my heater doesnt work does that mean the heater core is out?

change out your thermostat, heater core will leak inside of car if damaged and another thing the water pump is what circulates the coolant thru out engine

What will happen if thermostat is removed from Nissan TD27 engine? will there be a coolant circulation through -out the engine or coolant in the radiator will only circulate?

your engine will never reach operating temperature, and turn over operation to the pcm. you will burn much more fuel and have poor performance. the coolant will circulate fairly normally, however your heater will probably blow luke warm air.

Water not flowing through top hose into radiator after installing new one

Hi JD,

Be sure there is sufficient coolant in the system. Not always as easy as it sounds (Be glad it's not a fiero, they are really fun)).

Fill it as far as you can while it's running. Let it get warm, rev it every once in a while. The level should begin to surge, let it keep surging until it lowers before adding more water. Top it off again.

Repeat the procedure until it doesn't lower any more.

This will get rid of any air pockets. Now fill the reservoir to the indicated level.

The only other thing I can suggest is making sure the water pump is the correct one as far as direction of spin. There should be an arrow indicating the direction the pulley should be turning stamped on the pump housing. Check it.

Comment me with any problems.

No heat,ch.thermostat,water is circulating,blower goin strong .

Check the 'heater control valve'. This valve opens when u turn on the heat switch on the dash, so the hot coolant will flow thru the heater core and provide heat. So although the coolant is circulating in the engine, the valve controlling the flow to the heater core is stuck closed, or not working.
