There isn't one. This is a common misconception as some very early 80s fuel injected cars had them.

SOURCE: Location of blower motor switch resistor on 2004 Grand Marquis

The blower speed controller is located under the hood on the right or passenger side on the heater housing just to the side of the heater hoses near the very back of the right cylinder head.
Yes that would cause the concern you are having.

On a 2004 Grand Marquis The door ajar light won't

There is usually a grounding (or sometimes a power circuit completion) switch on the door pillar that needs to be adjusted to either make or break a ground circuit or make or break a power circuit. Usually a grounding switch will have only one wire and a power circuit will have two wires.

I have a 2004 mercury grand marquis and the head lights intermitently will go out while driving at night. after a few minutes they will come back on. the car does have the auto position on the switch.

what you are experiencing is the head light switch itself is getting hot and the internal relays in the switch are seprateing you just need to change the switch also check the manual dimmer swicth under the column for sticking or malfunctioning
