Lets keep it simple and start with replacing the gas cap first. Don't buy the cheap generic gas cap, buy the OEM dealer gas cap for your car. Your car is 8 years old and the seals in the gas cap get brittle and have cracks, Next time you fill up your gas tank, look at the gas cap and inspect the condition of the seals. Start with that and make sure that when you reinstall the gas cap that it's tight, you want to hear it click three times to insure that it's tight. Good luck and keep me posted, the service light will go off on it's own after the issue has been addressed after 3 start ups and will clear it self from the history after 100 start ups without any issues. Good luck and be glad to answer any questions you may have.

P0440 engine code

po440 is a large leak in - Evaporative System, A bad fuel cap seal will cause this also. remove cap and replace it on tight, and see if light goes out. Check all vacuum hoses, Under hood, and car. carefully, for a leak.Even a small hole will cause a vacuum leak and turn check engine light on. Good-Day!

Light came on had it coded says its po440 purchased new gas cap light still on could still be three other things evaporated canister hose cracked. Purgevent solenoid Vacuum leak at engine .what should I...

I would do just what you said in that order, I would check your hoses to the evap canister, make sure you dont have vacuum hose leak anywhere, then change the solenoid, if your still getting the code, then change the intake manifold gasket.
Hope Ive helped you-Rate if u can I would appreciate to know if I did well for you.
Thanks and have a great day

They did a smoke test and replaced the hose that was leaking code still popped up . po440 grand am

p0440 evap small leak detected. Should find with smoke machine. However, there could be a reflash for the computer to prevent this issue. Have the tech check for updated computer programs. If none are available you have a small leak in the fuel vapor system.

1999 Pontiac grand am wont let me put gas in tank,

sounds like you have a vent valve problem, po440 is that something is wrong with evap system, which vent valve is part of, start by checking that first make sure its not blocked with spider webing, good luck.

I need to know what part needed for a Po440 Code?

Most likely not a part. Make sure your vacuum supply to your leak detection pump is not disconnected. This is the cause 9 out of 10 times. If not, check for power and ground to the LDP, or the purge valve.
