Hi Margie,I have a 85 Nissan 720 4x4 king cab.Go to the fuse box at the driver side kick panel, check all fuses. You also have some fusible links at the positive battery side, check those wires, for burnt or melted wire. Also could be your fuel gauge unit, here's a link to it. Where is the inertia cut-off switch on 1983 nissan 720 PU

I'm not sure if there is a cut off switch for the 720. I was just reading recently about a common problem on them though, being the fuel pump control unit. If your pump isn't working, this may be your culprit. It is located on the passenger side kick panel. Pull the trim off, you should see it. Cost for them is about $60-$70. There may be a way to test them, I don't know.

Is there an on line spark plug diagram for a 1983 nission pickup

Is that the engine with two spark plugs per cylinder? There is a good forum site for your pickup at Yahoo Groups. Look for Datsun 720 Pickups (your model is the 720).

My 83 nissan 720 pu fuel and temp gauge quit working at the same time, what might this be? I thought it might be a relay, where would it be located at?

fuel and temperature guages on the old nissan cars are run from the same fuse.
i cannot remember which one it is, but if you check your fuses you should be able to see if any are blown. i am pretty sure that there is not a relay for the guages as they do not use enough power to need one.

Have an 83 nissan 720 p/u 4 x 4. The engine misses when I get to about 45 mph and higher. Its gets worse when I accelerate at higher speeds only. It runs smooth as soon as I let off the gas and just...

If it misses when you look to accelerate my first thoghts are towards fuel mixture, running lean. If not the fuel mixture I woul think the problem lies with timing.

I hope this may have assisted,

I have a 1983 nissan 720 pickup and it has and outside mounted fuel pump. the power wire fell off of it now it doesnt work and i cant find anywhere on the pump where to put the power wire back on.. i need...

If the wire broke off close to where it enters the fuel pump body you wont be able to reattach the wire without disassembling the pump body to resolder the broken wire leads inside. I would recommend finding a new universal style replacement pump at a discount auto parts store as I did on an 84 king cab. You may have to mount a bracket and re plumb some new fuel line also.

Gas gauge for 1983 nissan truck died

it is unlikely to be the fuel gauge, look instead to the sending unit. a wire probably is loose or corroded, if you know about how much fuel you should have, then remove the negative cable from the battery and do a ohms test on the sending unit. (low ohms w/ full tank= good, high ohms w/ low fuel= good). DO NOT attempt this with the battery connected as it could FRY your meter or risk fire.
