Question about 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Dealer changed door locks in front doors, did not solve problem.
So if the car worked perfect at the dealer
( i bet it did)
then he is a crook because, is not god like.?
how can you fix a car that tests ok.
you tell me... Ill bow in reverence.
find a shop that can drive it for a week and fix it.
it has to fail for them to find it.
diagnosis is that, using tools to find a live failure.
i could fix it but it might take me 1 to or more days work
driving and with my data logger attached, to find the culprit.

Dealer is a crook!
Everything points to something in the door being wrong, but not the lock. My guess is that a wire is cut or chaffed or touching another and is causing this.
The dome light is controlled by a pressure switch in the door or door frame. Some cars will turn the interior light on when you insert and turn the key. The inside of the driver or passenger door is the place to look.
