SOURCE: ABS Problems
Just went through this problem with my Dakota as well. This is a very very very common problem with the Dodges. First things first. Replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor on the rear differential. Cost around 40 dollars at your local auto parts store or even from the stealership. Its easy to change as well one nut and off comes the bracket then the stud comes off and then you can take out the sensor. They big key is here to be VERY careful pulling out the sensor or you will break it off in the housing. You will need to slowly turn and pry it out with a small screwdriver (as there is an Oring holding it in). Reverse the process to install the new one. After you get the sensor in, reset everything by pulling the negative off the battery and leaving it off for 30 min (some require less time but 30 min is safe) to ensure all is reset. Hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Vitz 2005 ABS light and Speedo
as a toyota technician, its probably the wrong fitted of the ring, once you replace the bearing they will removed the ring and in that ring there is a small hole that the sensor goes in. speedometer will not work not work if there is a malfunction in abs and it is speedometer, brake warning light are integrated with abs ecu.

under your hood there is a abs pump, it make the pressure for the abs to work and when the system is faulty they vibrate and make a long steady noise when you first turn your car on, sometimes they even vibrate, stop then vibrate again a few seconds later. while this is annoying and semi embarasing u can use your brakes w/out abs. or you can replace the unit for 600bucks plus labor at the shop. its a easy fix if u wanna do it yourself. it takes 1.hr in labor plus you can find the part at the junkyard for 250. i hope i was helpful.

If the ABS (and likely the traction control) light came on at the same time that the speedometer stopped working, you likely have a faulty wheel speed sensor at the right rear wheel. You can test this by swapping the two rear wheel speed sensors (ABS sensors). If the speedometer then works (but the ABS & Traction control lights stay on), replace the sensor that is now at the left rear (was at the right rear). If no change, you may have a fault in the ABS & Traction control - control unit.
