hydraulic washers in use have a steel surround with a rubber insert which acts a a seal
the rubber seals off and the steel stops hydraulic pressure from pushing it out of place
or the there is a crack in the thread where the hex nut is
get a new washer from a hydraulic shop and if that doesn't fix it, you may have to get a new valve body
discuss the problem when you are at the hydraulic shop for more ideas

Hi- 1995 jeep wrangler 2.5yj- clutch grinding won't go into gear - seems full of fluid but over filled it works good for a few months -does it again- repeated -works good-maybe master slave problem ?

yes, then either the slave or mc are bad.
sometimes both can fail, (rust happens inside and is progressive)
what I do , is this. (if not wanting to change out both)
1: look at the MC, if it done leak down either side of the fire wall
it might be good (dont mean the piston seals good but its not leaking, so if fluid drops , (every week say) the the MC is ok
and for sure the slave leaks.

2: so where is your slave. have you looked,? (swaps happen)
most leak and can not be detected as that leak landed on the road to work.
for sure its just 2 parts, here, you know the clutch is ok.
because it works with fluid in the system and bled.
now ILL PASTE THE FSM words out of a real factory service manual.
they are clear.
FSM words, QUOTE:
CLUTCH HYDRAULIC LINKAGE REMOVAL
The clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder
and connecting line are serviced as an assembly
only.
The linkage components cannot be
overhauled or serviced separately. The cylinders
and connecting line are sealed units. Also
note that removal/installation procedures for
right and left hand drive models are basically
the same. Only master cylinder location is different.
(1) Raise vehicle.
(2) Remove fasteners attaching slave cylinder to
clutch housing.
(3) Remove slave cylinder from clutch housing (Fig.
9).
(4) Disengage clutch fluid line from body clips.
(5) Lower vehicle.
(6) Verify that cap on clutch master cylinder reservoir
is tight. This is necessary to avoid undue spillage
during removal.
(7) Remove clutch master cylinder attaching nuts.
Note that one nut is accessible from engine compartment
and one nut is accessible from under instrument
panel (Figs. 10 and 11).
(8) Remove clip securing clutch master cylinder
push rod to pedal and slide push rod off pedal pin.
(9) Disconnect clutch pedal position switch wires.
(10) If pedal pin is equipped with bushing, inspect
condition of bushing and replace it if worn or damaged.
(11) Remove clutch hydraulic linkage through engine
compartment.

Would a modulator valve on a 2004 grand am not go in reverse


2004 doesn't have a modulator valve . An if it did it would affect all gear operation , Shift hard , but would still go into gear. You have an internal transmission problem !

Have to push clutch all the way to floor to get in gear


I am assuming that you have a hydraulic clutch. You may have a fluid leak in the clutch system. Leaks often develop at either the master cylinder end at your foot, or the slave cylinder end at the gearbox. Once any piston seals have been replaced or master/slave cylinders have been replaced then the system will need to be bled and this should then rectify the issue.

I have a 1994 Chevy C1500 how would i find a leak for the clutch


The clutch master cylinder is located on the firewall in front of the clutch pedal and has a solid plastic line (hose) that runs directly to the clutch slave cylinder which is located inside the bell housing of the transmission. Unless it has rubbed against something and developed a leak, which is very unlikely, the leak will be at the slave cylinder and drip from the front edge of the bell housing where it meets the engine. This is a common problem with older Chevy trucks and the best fix is to replace the entire hydraulic system with a pre-assembled unit available at most parts suppliers. These units come with the master cylinder, hydraulic line and slave cylinder with a new release bearing (throw-out bearing) and are pre-bled and full of fluid. Replacing just the slave cylinder is a major job and bleeding these systems have been known to drive people crazy. Replacing ALL of it aint much more work and saves your sanity not to mention all those dirty words.12_28_2012_1_54_36_am.png

Clutch goes all the way to the floor without resitance on my daughters 2004 sunfire. there is fluid on the ground and when I checked fluid level it appeared to be empty


Examine carefully to locate exact point of leak. Could be the hydraulic line, a connection between line & slave cylinder or master cylinder, or a bad slave cylinder. Once you identify the point of leak, I can help you with repair info if needed.

How do you remove and old hydraulic line of a slave cylinder on a 1992 2WD 4.0L Cherokee so that the new one can be installed?


i dont think you are supposed to remove it. they come with a hose master and slave cyl all put together.
i did get one aprt once and i think there was a roll pin i pulled out to do it

Brake fluid is leaking out the front left tire!


This is most likely a busted or separated line that is connected to the brake housing(on the front tire assembly). inspect the line for a tight fit. replace the line and coupler if found to be defective.

In most severe cases, the caliber may be faulty.

2001 kia sportage brake fluid leak problem


kia s leak is common in the proportioning valve located on the fire wall two line from the master cylinder to the pv then 4 lines comming out, Ther eic two hew nuts on the top of the valve. Simply look at the one that is wet take a 16 mm ratchet and take off the hex nut. Now there are two different set ups in this nut but the fix is the same. Rplace the bottom o ring. On one of the set ups it has a small cover dont lose it the o ring is under this cover
