How can i tell if water pump is bad

Do a cold start with Radiator cap off,; you should see the fluid moving around some in the radiator. If not, then there is a good chance the internal water pump blades are gone or only a small amount left.

Ticking sound in top end of 04 intrepid 2.7. I have replaced the water pump as it was overheating...that problem is gone. Replaced the timing chain and tensioner and all new gaskets... its ticking once...

check that you have put the right amount of oil in the sump as the oil light is probably coming as the oil surges away from the pump. disregard the dip stick for a minute . There is normally around 4 litres of oil in a sump ( 1 us gallon)

How do i tell if my water pump has gone bad

If the water pump was bad, the engine would be over heating. If the engine temp is normal, then the heater core could be clogged or the valve that opens the water flow to the heater core is not opening. You should be able to see if the valve is opening.

MY fluid in resevoir is bubbling in my 99 A4, just had timing belt and water pump replaced a month ago anything????

1. Possible air lock in the cooling system, does the internal fan blow hot air? You can blead the system through small bleeding points on the water hoses.

2. Head gasket gone, do the water pipes to the rad expand under pressure?

3. Faulty thermostat. Thermostat controls the amount of water directed to the rad.

Let me know how it goes.

Hey i have a 2003 Nissan Sentra 1.8L with 100000 miles on it and just recently the heater began to blow cold air most of the time and on some random occasions it would blow warm. i replaced the thermostat...

The actuator that controls the heat and air has probably gone bad or the control that tells the actuator what air temperature you want has gone or is going out.

I have a Rockfordfosgate AMP 1000 1db it experienced water damage is it worth repairing or get a new one

Get it repaired, cost less and it may just be a simple thermal relay that may have gone bad. Always get a Quote first, your only responsible for the amount of the quote. That means they can only charger you the amount of the quote or less then the quote to repair the Amp. The you can decide to repair it or replace it. Good luck and hope this helps.

98 pathfinder water pump

Chances are if you have a coolant leak right under the water pump, especially with engine running, the inner seal in the water pump is shot & the entire water pump will need to be replaced with a reman / new one. For the amount of hassle required to replace the seal it is worth the couple hundred bucks for the new pump.

There would definitely be overheating problems if the pump were not working at all. You will also have overheating problems present if there is low coolant, make sure the rad is topped up, with heater(s) on "Hot" inside & run the engine until it shows warm on the gauge. Make sure all of the belts are tight & pump looks like its spinning.

Changing my antifreeze

i guess the easiest way is to take the bottom radiator hose off when the engine is cold put a hose in the top of the radiator flush any dirty water out then reconnect the hose put the right amount of anti-freeze in (will tell you on the bottle) fill the radiator with water but also have a hose or bucket of water handy because the water level will drop when the motor gets hot when this happens just fill with water but don't waste time

Loosing coolant somewhere.

it is the head gasket. you're wise to change the oil right away but stop driving it before you do some real damage to the motor.
