Question about Volkswagen Jetta

Sometimes my VW Jetta 5, 2.0 comfort line does not want to start up after travelling a long distance, It can only start after resetting. What could be the problem?

SOURCE: Adjust travel of wiper arm on 2001 vw jetta

Adjusting for more or less travel isn't possible , but you can remove the arm off the stem and reposition it slightly to improve windshield coverage... Remember you only need to move it a little bit.

nop but u should check the alarm. some cars when the battery its changed activate an silent alarm and doesnt let the car run

The line connected to your transmission could be damaged or disconnected... it is how your odometer reads your distance/MPH, etc...

I have a 2002 vw Jetta. It has been sitting for a few months and when I tried starting it, it would start and immediately cut out after it started. A friend said it could be an "immobilzer" reset...


PUT KEY IN DOOR AND UNLOCK CAR(HOLD KEY OVER FOR 30 SECS)THEN LOCK(HOLD ETC)THEN PRESS THE REMOTE BUTTON AND HOLD IT DOWN,AND ASSUNMING THE BATTERIES ARE GOOD YOU HAVE JUST RESET THE SYSTEM.......
IF YOUR CAR HAS THE COMFORT MODE FITTED THE WINDOWS WILL GO DOWN THEN UP WHEN HOLDING THE KEY OVER...

For the 1998 VW Jetta:
I do not know if you have the 2.0L SOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder or the 2.8L DOHC V-6; however I have included both below. The 2.0L has a ture Distributor Cap and the 2.8L has an Ignition Coil.

For the 2.0L SOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder:
Firing Order:
1-3-4-2
Cylinders

I changed the battery in our 2008 VW Jetta 2.5 and all the lights in the dashboard are on now. How do I reset it?


it happened once to me... you have to drive it for 5 miles and it starts to remember the sensors and functions it had... and the lights will go away

VW Jetta starts, then turns off immediately


try checking the throttle position sensor or the idle control valve both can keep it from running.

Problems starting


sounds fuel related. any more info? maybe check your fuel relays/fuel pump. when last did you change the fuel filter at the back?
