If the bolt how line up yes...but you're also going to have to make sure the drive line is the correct size also. More to it then taking one out and replacing it with the other one.

I have a 1998 dodge Dakota 5.2 l that I'm thinking of swapping. ...what years are comparable and with what vehicles ......and how difficult would it be to upgrade to a 5.9l r /t model engine ?

the 360 and 318 are basically the same engine except the 318 is externally balanced and the 360 is internally balanced be sure when you do the swap get the flywheel and comes with the balancer i believe they are the same from 96-01 before they went to the 4.7 engine

Can i use the same wirehardness from my old engine?

The Passat and A4 Motors are interchangeable for the most part. You need to make sure you have the SAME CODE ENGINE (it is stamped onto the head on the Front Right side of the head)

If the Same Stamp is there, it is a Direct Fit and you do not need to move any harness

What engine could i put in my bora its petrol 2l year is 2000 would like to put a bigger one in but not sure due to codes my code is aqy

engines for petrol have gearbox different ratios for diesel so you will have to find a complete transmision.PLUS all the computer/engine management systems(whole fron end)and wiring loom NOT RECCOMENDED....look up morego.co.uk for a tuning chip(135 bhp plus more mpg.)much more sense and cheaper......

Go to the dealer, he is the only person who can find the code. It should be in the owners manual if the original qwner left it there.

Engine is shaking, reduced power to engine, service engine light on, all of a sudden, car was driving fine

Could be anything you need to give more info. Have the cars computer scanned for codes, It may help identify the problem or help lead you in the right direction.

Changing from 98 2.5 man.tranny,to 01 3.9

WOW. You want to put a 3.9 ltr V6 from a 2001 Dakota into a 1998 Dakota with a 2.5 ltr 4 cylinder? And you want to keep the manual trans? Have you considered what you will be using for a fuel and engine managment system? If you have a wrecked truck as a host vehicle then the changover may work. But it will take patience and a lot of work. I don't think the 4 cylinder trans will bolt up but I am not sure - never tried that. However that light duty trans will probably not handle the torque for very long even if it did bolt up. Your local Auto Salvage Yard will have a changeover guide and be able to tell you if that trans will fit either engine. My recommendation is to swap everthing and change that 98 to a 01, auto trans and everything.
Good Luck
Let me know how it goes?

Engine swap

your engine is a pump injector diesel engine a there are shed loads of pump injector engine codes that will fit.your current engine is a 115bhp 8 valve.i would sugest a ARL 150bhp ,it will fit ok.if you ask for a front wheel drive 8 valve 1.9 PD engine you wont go far wrong.

Engine swap

Generally it is not recommended using parts either that the ones designed for same model, however some Passat engine connects same way as Golf. You need to know the Passat engine year and verify engine mounting procedure and connections positions. Getting the two Haynes manuals for the two VW models can help you to compare.
