Open Question

How to mount a telescope on a 6 ft x 2 ft dia. concrete cylinder. The lower 4 ft. of the cylinder is below ground vibration dampening.

The cylinder has the appropriate three 3/4 inch SS j bolts Embedded in it. Will only have a Quartro 12 inch scope, nothing else. Have no pier, plates or anything else that I might need. This is in a roll-off roof observatory with a concrete floor. Expansion joint between cylinder and floor.

Alldata is usually the correct source of information tho recheck that it is showing ft lbs.
best way to find out exactly what it should be is to call your local dealer, ask for the parts guy and see if he will look up the correct torque for those bolts.

The sensor is located behind the crank pulley/harmonic dampener. To replace:

1 Remove the tire/wheel and splash shield.
2 Remove the bolts, then loosen the mount bolt and pivot the side engine mount out of the way.
3 Loosen the idler pulley center nut and adjusting bolt, then remove the A/C compressor belt.
4 Loosen the alternator mounting bolt, nut and adjusting bolt, then remove the alternator belt.
5 Loosen the mounting nuts and adjusting nut, then remove the P/S pump belt.
6 Remove the dipstick and pipe.
7 Remove the crankshaft pulley.
8 Remove the upper covers and lower cover. NOTE: Do not use the upper and lower covers for storing removed items.
9 Remove the CKP sensor from the cylinder block.
10 Install the CKP sensor in reverse order of removal.

Steering Wheel vibration only at certain speeds.


I suggest having the steering and front suspension systems checked, including: ball joints, tie rod ends, steering dampener (if equipped), upper and lower control arm bushings, hub bearings. I would also have the U-joints and motor mounts inspected in the process.

Removal
  1. Drain engine cooling system.
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301) .
  1. Remove engine air cleaner (ACL) (9600) including air cleaner outlet tube (9B659) .
  1. Loosen drive belt tensioner (6B209). Remove drive belts (8620) .
  1. If LH cylinder head (6049) is being removed, perform the following:
    1. Remove oil filler cap (6766) .
    1. Remove power steering pump front mounting bracket retaining bolts.
    1. Remove generator (GEN) (10346) and belt idler pulley (8678).
    1. Remove power steering pump/generator bracket retaining bolts. Leave hoses connected, place pump/bracket assembly aside in a position to prevent fluid from leaking out.
  1. If RH cylinder head is being removed, perform the following:
    1. Remove drive belts .
    1. If equipped with A/C, remove mounting bracket retaining bolts. Leave hoses connected and position A/C compressor (19703) aside.
    1. Remove positive crankcase ventilation valve (PCV valve) (6A666) .
  1. Remove upper intake manifold (9424) .
  1. Remove valve cover retaining bolts.
  1. Remove fuel injection supply manifold (9F792).
  1. Remove lower intake manifold as outlined.
  1. Remove exhaust manifolds (9430) as outlined.
  1. Loosen rocker arm seat retaining bolts enough to allow rocker arm (6564) to be lifted off the push rod (6565) and rotate to one side.
  1. Remove push rods . Identify position of each push rod . Push rods should be installed in their original position during assembly.
  1. Remove cylinder head retaining bolts and discard.
  1. Remove cylinder heads .
  1. Remove and discard old head gaskets (6051) .
Installation
  1. NOTE: Lightly oil all bolts and stud bolt threads before installation except those specifying special sealant.
    Clean cylinder head, intake manifold , valve cover (6582) and head gasket surfaces. If cylinder head was removed for head gasket replacement, check flatness and sealing areas for scratches of cylinder head and cylinder block gasket surfaces. Refer to Section 03-00 for procedure.
  2. Position new head gaskets onto cylinder block (6010) using cylinder head to block dowels (6A008) for alignment.

  8. For each valve, rotate crankshaft (6303) until valve tappet (6500) rests on the heel (base circle) of the camshaft lobe, before tightening rocker arm seat retaining bolts to 7-15 Nm (5-11 lb-ft) maximum.
  9. Lubricate all rocker arms with Engine Assembly Lubricant D9AZ-19579-D or equivalent meeting Ford Specification ESR-M99C80-A. Final-tighten the rocker arm seat bolts to 30-40 Nm (22-30 lb-ft). For final tightening, camshaft (6250) may be in any position.
  10. Install exhaust manifolds as outlined.
  11. Install lower intake manifold as outlined.
  12. Install fuel injection supply manifold .
  13. Position valve cover and new valve cover gasket (6584) on cylinder head and install retaining bolts. Note location of ignition wire routing clip stud bolts. Tighten retaining bolts to 9-12 Nm (7-9 lb-ft).
  14. Install upper intake manifold .Install spark plugs (12405) , if removed.
  15. Connect ignition wires to the spark plugs .
  16. If LH cylinder head is being installed, perform the following:
    1. Install oil filler cap.
    1. Install generator/power steering pump mounting bracket.
    1. Install generator .
    1. Install main accessory drive belt tensioner .
    1. Install power steering pump (3A674) .
    1. Install power steering pump support bracket.If RH cylinder head is being installed, perform the following:
    1. Install positive crankcase ventilation valve .
    1. If equipped with A/C, install A/C compressor mounting brackets (2882) and A/C compressor .
  17. Install drive belt and tighten to specification.
  18. Connect battery ground cable .
  19. Install air cleaner outlet tube.

I need to add 80-90W oil in my rear diff, however, I can't seem to find the plug to pull to add in said oil. can anyone help? What am i missing?


Axle Housing Assembly Removal & Installation To Remove:

  1. Raise and support the rear of the vehicle safely using jackstands under the frame. Position a floor jack or a second set of jackstands to support the rear axle housing. If a floor jack is being used, take care when removing the U-bolts to keep the axle from suddenly dislodging.
  2. Remove the rear wheels and drums for clearance and to remove some weight from the axle housing.
  3. If equipped, remove the axle vibration dampener.
  4. Matchmark and remove the rear driveshaft from the pinion flange. Either remove the shaft completely from the vehicle or support it aside from the undercarriage using safety wire, but DO NOT allow the shaft to hang from the slip joint.
  5. Remove the shock absorber-to-axle housing retainers, then swing the shock absorbers away from the axle housing.
  6. Disconnect the brake lines from the axle housing clips and the backing plates (wheel cylinders). NOTE: When disconnecting the brake lines from the wheel cylinders, immediately plug or cap the lines to prevent system contamination or excessive fluid loss.
  7. If applicable, unplug the speed sensor connectors at the junction block.
  8. Disconnect the parking brake cable(s).
  9. Disconnect the axle housing-to-spring U-bolt nuts, washers. U-bolts and the anchor plates.
  10. Remove the vent hose from the top of the axle housing.
  11. Remove the axle with the help of an assistant by moving it to clear the leaf spring, or if desired, the leaf springs can be disconnected from the frame at the rear end to lower the axle down and back, but first refer to the leaf spring procedures for information regarding spring installation and removal.
To Install:
  1. With the help of an assistant, carefully position the rear axle into the vehicle.
  2. Connect the vent hose to the axle housing.
  3. Be sure the housing is properly positioned on the leaf spring, then loosely install the U-bolts, anchor plates, washers and nuts.
    • Tighten the U-bolt nuts in a cross pattern to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm) to make sure everything is evenly seated. Then tighten the nuts in steps to 41 ft. lbs. (55 Nm) on 1994-95 models or 74 ft. lbs. (100 Nm) on 1996 and later models.
  4. Remove the caps from the brakes lines then connect the lines and secure them to the axle housing.
  5. If removed, connect the parking brake cable(s).
  6. If applicable, attach the speed sensor connectors to the junction block.
  7. Align and install the driveshaft assembly. Refer to the procedure earlier in this section for details.
  8. Install the shock absorbers to the lower mounts, then tighten the mount nuts.
  9. If equipped, install the axle vibration dampener.
  10. Install the brake drums and the tire/wheel assemblies.
  11. Properly refill the brake master cylinder and bleed the hydraulic brake system.
  12. Check the fluid level in the rear axle assembly and add, as necessary. Make sure the vehicle is level when checking and adding fluid.
  13. Remove the jackstands and carefully lower the truck.

1990–95 VEHICLES
  1. Disconnect the battery ground.
  2. Drain the cooling system. CAUTION
    When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.
  3. Disconnect the hoses at the thermostat housing.
  4. Remove the air cleaner.
  5. Remove the rocker arm cover as outlined earlier in this section.
  6. Remove the rocker arms. Keep them in order!
  7. Remove the pushrods. Keep them in order!
  8. Remove the power steering pump bracket.
  9. Suspend the pump out of the way.
  10. Remove the intake and exhaust manifolds.
  11. Remove the air conditioning compressor drive belt.
  12. Loosen the alternator drive belt.
  13. Remove the compressor/alternator bracket mounting bolt.
  14. Unbolt the compressor and suspend it out of the way. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE REFRIGERANT LINES!
  15. Remove the spark plugs.

  17. Remove the head bolts.
  18. Lift the head off the engine and place it on a clean workbench.
  19. Remove the head gasket. To install:
  20. Thoroughly clean the gasket mating surfaces. Remove all traces of old gasket material. Remove all carbon deposits from the combustion chambers. Lay a straightedge across the head and check for flatness. Total deviation should not exceed 0.001 in. (0.025mm). NOTE: The cylinder head gasket used on the 2.5L engine is a composition gasket. The gasket is to be installed dry. Do not use gasket sealing compound on the gasket.
  21. Fabricate 2 cylinder head alignment dowels from 2 used cylinder head bolts. Cut the head of the longest bolt off below the hex head. Then cut a slot in the top of the dowel to allow easier removal with a screwdriver.
  22. Install one dowel in bolt hole No. 10 and the other dowel in bolt hole No. 8.
  23. Place the cylinder head gasket over the dowels with the numbers facing up.
  24. Place the cylinder head over the dowels.
  25. Coat the threads of bolt No. 7 only, with Loctite PST sealant or equivalent.
  26. Install all head bolts except Nos. 8 and 10.
  27. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration to the following:
    1. Tighten bolts 1 through 10 in sequence to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
    2. Tighten bolts 1 through 10 in sequence to 45 ft. lbs. (61 Nm).
    3. Recheck bolts 1 through 10 in sequence to verify that they are 45 ft. lbs. (61 Nm).
    4. Tighten bolts 1 through 6 in sequence to 110 ft. lbs. (149 Nm).
    5. Tighten bolt 7 to 100 ft. lbs. (136 Nm).
    6. Tighten bolts 8 through 10 to 110 ft. lbs. (149 Nm). NOTE: During the final tightening sequence, bolt No. 7 will be tightened to a lower torque than the rest of the bolts. Do not overtighten bolt No. 7.
  28. Connect the temperature sending unit wire.
  29. Install the spark plugs.
  30. Install the compressor.
  31. Install the compressor/alternator bracket mounting bolt.
  32. Adjust the alternator drive belt.
  33. Install the air conditioning compressor drive belt.
  34. Install the intake and exhaust manifolds.
  35. Install the power steering pump bracket.
  36. Install the pushrods. Keep them in order!
  37. Install the rocker arms. Keep them in order!
  38. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the head and rocker cover and install as outlined earlier in this section.
  39. Install the air cleaner.
  40. Connect the hoses at the thermostat housing.
  41. Connect the battery ground.
  42. Fill the cooling system.

Remove auxiliary 1. drive belts.
2. Support engine.
Remove:
Engine mounting and bracket.
Timing belt upper cover [1].

4. Turn crankshaft clockwise to TDC on No.1 cylinder. Ensure timing marks aligned [2] & [3].
Remove:
Crankshaft pulley bolt [4].
Crankshaft pulley [5]. Use tool No.09213-60017.

6. Ensure timing marks aligned [2] & [3].
7. Slacken tensioner bolt [6]. Move tensioner away from belt and lightly tighten bolt.
Remove:
Timing belt lower cover [7].
Crankshaft sprocket guide washer [9].
Timing belt.

Installation
Installation
1. Check tensioner pulley for smooth operation.
2. Check free length of tensioner spring is 46,0 mm [8]. Replace spring if necessary.
3. Fit tensioner and spring. Ensure spring is connected correctly.
4. tighten bolt [6].
5. Ensure timing marks aligned [2] & [3].
6. Fit timing belt. Ensure belt is taut between sprockets.
Install:
Crankshaft sprocket guide washer [9].
Timing belt lower cover [7].
Crankshaft pulley [5].

8. Slacken tensioner bolt 1/2 turn [6].
9. Turn crankshaft two turns clockwise to TDC on No.1 cylinder. Ensure timing marks aligned [2] & [3].
Turn crankshaft slowly 1 7/8 turns clockwise until crankshaft pulley timing mark [3] aligned with 45° BTDC mark [10] on
timing belt lower cover [7].

11. Tighten tensioner bolt [6]. Tightening torque: 42 Nm.
12. Install components in reverse order of removal.
13. Tighten crankshaft pulley bolt [4]. Tightening torque: 108 Nm.

Ifailed to get on tdc before removing old timing belt how do I get back in time so Icanreplacebelt.


This is the complete procedure from the service manual on how to replace the timing belt start to finish, start over to assure u get it right, if u mess up the engine will be damaged

Removal for 1.6L engines : ONLY 2006 to 2009 CARS


Engine removal is not required for this procedure.

1.Remove the engine cover.

2.Remove the RH front wheel.

3.Remove the 2 bolts and RH side cover.

4.Temporarily loosen the water pump pulley bolts.

5.Remove the alternator drive belt

6.Remove the air conditioner compressor drive belt

7.Remove the power steering pump drive belt

8.Remove the 4 bolts and water pump pulley.

9.Remove the 4 bolts and

10.Turn the crankshaft pulley, and align its groove with timing mark "T" of the timing belt cover. Check that the timing mark of camshaft sprocket is aligned with the timing mark of cylinder head cover. (No.1 cylinder compression TDC position)

11.Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley

12.Remove the crankshaft flange

13.Remove the 4 bolts and timing belt lower cover

14.Remove the timing belt tensioner and timing belt.

15.Remove the bolt and timing belt idler

16.Remove the crankshaft sprocket

17.Remove the cylinder head cover.

(1)Remove the wire harness bracket

(2)Remove the ignition coil.

(3)Remove the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) hose and the breather hose from the cylinder head cover

(4)Remove the engine cover bracket

(5)Loosen the cylinder head cover bolts and then remove the cover and gasket.

18.Remove the camshaft sprocket.

Hold the portion of the camshaft with a hexagonal wrench, and remove the bolt with a wrench and remove the camshaft sprocket.

INSTALLATION:

1.Install the camshaft sprocket and tighten the bolt to the specified torque.

(1)Temporarily install the camshaft sprocket bolt

(2)Hold the portion of the camshaft with a hexagonal wrench, and tighten the bolt with a wrench
Tightening torque :78.5 ~ 98.1N.m (8.0 ~ 10.0kgf.m, 57.9 ~ 72.3lb-ft)



2.Install the cylinder head cover.

(1)Install the cylinder head cover and bolts
Tightening torque :7.8 ~ 9.8N.m (0.8 ~ 1.0kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 7.2lb-ft)

(2)Install the engine cover bracket

(3)Install the PCV(Positive Crankcase Ventilation) hose and breather hose to the cylinder head cover.

(4)Install the ignition coil.

3.Install the crankshaft sprocket

4.Align the timing marks of the camshaft sprocket and crankshaft sprocket with the No.1 piston placed at top dead center and its compression stroke.

5.Install the idler pulley and tighten the bolt to the specified torque.

Tightening torque :42.2 ~ 53.9N.m (4.3 ~ 5.5kgf.m, 31.1 ~ 39.8lb-ft)

6.Temporarily install the timing belt tensioner

7.Install the belt so as not give slack at each center of shaft. Use the following order when installing timing belt.
Crankshaft sprocket →idler pulley →camshaft sprocket →timing belt tensioner

8.Adjust the timing belt tension.

(1)Loosen the tensioner pulley mounting bolt and apply tension to the timing belt.

(2)After checking the alignment between each sprocket and each timing belt tooth, tighten the mounting bolt and one by one.

Tightening torque :19.6 ~ 26.5N.m (2.0 ~ 2.7kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 19.5lb-ft)

(3)Then recheck the belt tension.
Verify that when the tensioner and the tension side of the timing belt are pushed in horizontally with a moderate force [approx. 49N (11lb)], the timing belt cog end is aprox. 1/2 of the tensioner mounting bolt head radius (across flats) away from the bolt head center.

4)Timing belt tension measuring procedure
(by a sonic tension guage)
Rotate crankshaft in clockwise direction to set 1st piston on top dead center (TDC) and rotate crankshaft in counterclockwise to 90° then measure the belt tension in the middle of tension side span (in arrow direction of above illustration) by free vibration method.


9.Turn the crankshaft two turns in the operating direction (clockwise) and realign crankshaft sprocket and camshaft sprocket timing mark.


10.Install the timing belt lower cover with 5bolts

Tightening torque :7.8 ~ 9.8N.m (0.8 ~ 1.0kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 7.2lb-ft)

11.Install the flange and crankshaft pulley, and then tighten crankshaft pulley bolt. Make sure that crankshaft sprocket pin fits the small hole in the pulley.

Tightening torque :137.3 ~ 147.1N.m (14.0 ~ 15.0kgf.m, 101.3 ~ 108.5lb-ft)

12.Install the timing belt upper cover with 4 bolts.

Tightening torque :7.8 ~ 9.8N.m (0.8 ~ 1.0kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 7.2lb-ft)

13.Install the water pump pulley and 4 bolts.

14.Install the power steering pump drive belt

15.Install the air conditioner compressor drive belt

16.Install the alternator drive belt

17.Install the RH side cover with 2 bolts

18.Install the RH front wheel.


Tightening torque :88.3 ~ 98.1N.m (9.0 ~ 10.0kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 72.3lb-ft)

19.Install the engine cover with bolts.


Tightening torque :3.9 ~ 5.9N.m (0.4 ~ 0.6kgf.m, 2.9 ~ 4.3lb-ft)

2003 oil pan removal


4.0L Engine To Remove:
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Lift the vehicle.
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
    • Exhaust hanger at the catalytic converter and lower the pipe.
    • Starter motor.
    • Flywheel/torque converter housing access cover.
    • Oil level sensor (if equipped).
  5. Place a pole jack under vibration dampener with a piece of wood between dampener and jack.
  6. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Engine mount through bolts and raise engine for clearance to remove pan.
    • Transmission cooler lines (if equipped).
    • Oxygen sensor harness from oil pan mounting studs.
    • Oil pan bolts and studs.
    • Oil pan and gasket.
To Install:
  1. Clean the gasket mating surfaces.
  2. Apply Mopar® Silicone Adhesive Sealant or equivalent onto the cylinder block in four location as shown.

  1. Attach the pan gasket to the oil pan with Hi-tack or equivalent (2003-2005 vheicles).
  2. Use 1 ½ x ¼ inch bolts to fabricate alignment dowels. Cut off the head of the bolts and cut a slot into the top of the dowels (2006 vehicles).

  1. Install two dowels into the timing case cover (2006 vehicles).
  2. Install two dowels into the cylinder block (2006 vehicles).
  3. Place the gasket over the dowels and onto the cylinder block and timing case cover (2006 vehicles).
  4. Position the oil pan.
  5. Install the 1/4 inch oil pan bolts. Tighten to 84 in-lb (9.5 Nm).
  6. Install the 5/16 inch oil pan bolts. Tighten to 132 in-lb (15 Nm).
  7. Remove the dowels.
  8. Install the remaining 1/4 inch oil pan bolts. Tighten to 84 in-lb (9.5 Nm) (2006 vehicles).
  9. Lower the engine onto the engine mounts.
  10. Install the through bolts and tighten the nuts.
  11. Remove jack stand and remove the piece of wood.
  12. Install the flywheel and torque converter access cover.
  13. Install starter motor.
  14. Connect the exhaust pipe to the hanger and to exhaust manifold.
  15. Install the transmission oil cooling lines (if equipped).
  16. Install the oxygen sensor wiring supports to the oil pan mounting studs.
  17. Install the drain plug into the oil pan. Tighten to 25 ft-lb (34 Nm).
  18. Lower the vehicle.
  19. Connect negative battery cable.
  20. Fill the oil pan with oil. WARNING
    Use extreme caution when the engine is operating. Do not stand in a direct line with the fan. Do not put your hands near the pulleys, belts or fan. Do not wear loose clothing.
  21. Start the engine and inspect for leaks.
