Check engine light comes when its cold

Have the engine computer scanned for trouble codes. Autozone and Oreillys do scans for free. The code or codes will indicate the problem.
When the engine light is on, the computer has detected a fault in the engine management, and will set a trouble code.

My 2007 Cherokee Limited/Hemi I always use the remote start. It got cold low teens and the remote failed. The vehical will start manually but now the check engine light stays on. I have seen in my research...

Hi Danny, I would have both the vehicle and the remote fob batteries checked and if required, replaced. Cold weather can and does show up problems with batteries. It would also be a good idea to have a diagnostic scan carried out on your vehicle, just to be on the safe side. Regards John

Ford Taurus idles low and takes 3-4 times to stay running on cold days

Some of these models have 2 temperature sensors. One makes the dash gauge or light work and the other works the engine controls.

The one that makes the engine controls work acts like a choke. It speeds up the rpm and enriches the fuel mix for cold starts. This is why you are having more problems in cold weather. You can see which one operates the dash gauge and then change the other one. Hopefully once you get the temperature sensor reporting to the engine management module, everything will work again.

Temp light flashing after starting.outside temp.-17

Extreme cold weather is causing coolant to contract and fluid level is reading low level ... After starting with the engine warm the temp light should go off due to expansion of the coolant ... Solution: Add a small amount of coolant to compensate for cold weather contraction. Good luck!

If it's a 2.5 or 3.0 then probably a rear ABS sensor ring will have broken. You need a new CV joint for whichever side it is (not the complete half-shaft, despite what a garage/dealer may tell you). Cost is around £90 for parts, £70 for labour. The car can be driven in the meantime but ABS will not work and you may lose cruise control and even the speedo until it is fixed.

The engine light needs 3 complete cold-hot-cold engine cycles before it will reset itself, although a decent OBD II code reader can reset it immediately.

I am having a problem with my 2004 Honda Accord Sport 2.2 Diesel- here is my issue-- in cold conditions the heater plug light flashes continuously and the engine looses power allowing only revs up to and...

do you plug it in at night and in cold weather? Sounds like a fuel problem. Check your fuel filter and add conditioner to your fuel. Hope this helps.

The engine management system light came on at the dash board. why is this is it the cold weather or what is it the oxegen sensor is it critical can i drive my car.

It's NOT the cold,  not alone anyway.
If in the US go to autozone, or another parts store that will plug in a OBD II diagnostice tool for free.  They will tell you what code(s) the computer has thrown that turned on what some older guys call the "idiot" light, they can reset the light too, and there is a possibility it won't come on again.  I like the sound of "engine management system" better.  If you are getting O2 sensor codes the car may drive fine, and it's unlikely to damage anything by driving like this if it's the only code thrown.  O2 sensor is for emission system and fuel control. Your engine should put out much O2 after it has successfully burned the fuel, pulling a plug wire will set off the O2 sensor (and a bunch of other things;~) ).  If O2 sensor is going off and the sensor itself it working right, there is a problem, your engine is not operating efficiently, and you  should not ignore it, but it won't blow up.
