Power surge will blow the main power fuse. Usually located in the engine bay quite close to the positive battery terminal. Ampere rating of such fuse is usually 80A upwards. Some have markings, some may be in a form of a metal strip mounted on posts with screws and located in box. A service manual for you car model would be useful to you.

2007 Chevy Cobalt hit by lightning, low speed fan remains on, no ignition

do you mean the radiator fan or the heater cooler fan. radiator fan is the relay in the engine bay tap it it should go off if not replace, heater fan and cool the control unit may be damaged lung can do that to electronics. remove the battery make sure you have your codes to hand when you put battery back on. remove battery leave for 10 min with this off. then using some wire connect the live and negative wires on the body not the battery this should discard the static in the electrics. but make sure it 10 minuets before doing this.when you put battery back on the fans should not be running, if it is the lightning has fues the board and will probably need replacing.

No power to ecm on 99 sonoma

Be sure to check ALL the under-hood fuses the ones inside the dash sometimes with lightning strikes computers will short that send power to those fuses.Ive seen fuses blow but the circuit still shows power on both sides due to body control module faults. Physically remove and check those fuses. Especially the cigarette lighter/power point since that typically powers up the aldl connector on gm's.Also check around the battery cables for fusable link wires on the power or ground side. If one of those blows it will split the insullation around the wire or you will feel a flimsy spot in the wire. They are usually white or red and say fuse link or ground on them. Check to see if your security light is stuck on in the dash the passkey system can cause start issues also.

Need to find 40, 80, and 120 Amp fuses for a 2001 nissan maxima. Can't find a single helpful site for the parts I need. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

rockauto.com has it all.
also dont be afraid of your local picknpull
fuses dont usually go bad-they fail or work...

the bigger question is why you need them anyway-whats seriously wrong that you need to replace that many of that size?
lightning strike?

Tracing down a short causing my dash lights and my tail lights to not work after a near lightning strike ?

The running lights and dash lights are on the same circuit. The brake lights and turn signals are on their own circuit. You need to use a 12v test light to see where the circuit is broken, starting at the fuse, then the headlight switch, then the dash harness.(If the headlights work, you at least know the headlight switch is getting power).

Fuel gauge, speedometer, and temp gauge quit on my 99 chevy s10 after lightning struck highway 10feet in front of me what could be the problem all fuses are good

Wow, frightening, hope you are alright-check fuses and relays, the overload caused by the lightning strike may have blown one of these. Check harnesses and wiring to the gauge pod, worst case you might need to find another on ebay or at a local junkyard.

We had a tree struck by lightning last night. Now, our truck and sports car, parked 10 feet away, are both showing problems with charging system, (truck) and ABS, tracking system, and active handling...

Yes. Although the tires are suppose to insulate, there is enough humidity to allow the air to carry a charge. The ECM for example, can be interfered with by Radio frequencies. A lightning strike produces all kinds of freqencies beyond visible light.

You should document the tree strike and park your vehicles back into their spots if you do not already have photos of the tree damage showing the vehicles in the foreground or background.

This is comprehensive coverage with hidden damage discovered within a recent timeframe of the original event.

Whenever lightening strikes , my battery light comes on and also my power steering goes hard on 98 ford taurus SW

Hi:
I don't know about the lightning striking, but I am guessing that you have either a bad alternator, or bad belt tensioner on your engine. I would start with examining the belt and tensioner, then remove the alternator and have it tested for free at a local parts store.
