The best money spent is to buy a shop manual, if you're keeping the car.
I do not have that manual(my son does),but youtube.com will for sure have a good film on it. don-ohio (:^)

look down on the side and see if a vacuum hose goes into a little round diaphram.. If you find it unplug it and look to see if it got fluid in it. If it does replace the modulator. If dry make sure the linkage on the carb is hooked up correctly. This is about all you can do without replacing an internal part.

try posting the codes, it sounds like a ECM Engine Control Module(brain) problem.
