I hsve a 2008 saturn sky base 2.4L. The dealer says I need a new body control module. My question does the new BCM require reprogramming? If it doesn't then I will replace myself. Thanks

Almost certain to need programming with the vehicle-specific security code but best to check with the dealer and get information from the horse's mouth.

How to replace BCM on Saturn 2003 L200

You take it to the dealer ! Need's to be programmed .

Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration

The body control module (BCM) must be programmed with the proper RPO configurations. The BCM stores the information regarding the vehicle options and if the BCM is not properly configured with the correct RPO codes, the BCM will not control all of the features properly. Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for BCM programming:
• The battery is fully charged.
• The ignition switch is in the ON position.
• The data link connector (DLC) is accessible.
• All disconnected modules and devices are reconnected before programming.
To setup a new BCM, use the Tech 2 in conjunction with the Saturn Service Stall System . Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in Programming.
If the BCM fails to accept the program, perform the following steps:
• Inspect all BCM connections.
• Verify that the scan tool has the latest software version

Can A BCM Body control module for a Saturn Vue be reprogrammed for another car?

It can be done if you have the proper equipment, the correct software to install and the knowledge. Its really not needed most of the time many companies sell remaned BCM.s or will fix yours if they don't have one in stock. Check out Cardone:

2008 Saturn Vue - lots of hazard lights, key turns, NOTHING.

Lot's of warning lights , check engine and all the others , You should have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Lost power codes probably ! Could be a number of thing's ,ignition switch , BCM - body control module just to name a couple . DTC'S will point in the right diagnostic direction . The electronic's on your vehicle Are complex to say the least .
The body control system consists of the body control module (BCM), communications, and various input and outputs. Some inputs, outputs and messages require other modules to interact with the BCM. The BCM also has discrete input and output terminals to control the vehicle body functions. The BCM is wired to the GMLAN High speed serial data buss and the GMLAN Low speed serial data buss and acts as a gateway between them. If the BCM does not communicate the vehicle will not start due to the inability of the engine/powertrain control module (ECM/PCM) and vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) control module to communicate without the BCM providing the gateway function.
Power Mode Master
This vehicles BCM functions as the power mode master (PMM). The ignition switch is a low current switch with multiple discrete ignition switch signals to the PMM for determination the power mode that will be sent over the serial data circuits to the other modules that need this information, and so the PMM will activate relays and other direct outputs of the PMM as needed. Refer to Power Mode Description and Operation for a complete description of power mode functions.
This is something you should have checked out by a qualified repair shop .

My 2001 L200 Saturn has body control module problems. The mechanic just had it reprogrammed at a Chevy dealership, but he didn't replace the BCM. We've had it back for a couple of days, and so far, it...

reprograming is very common, this is done all the time even with newer cars, some times cars new newer or diffrent programing installed in them and dealer is the only one that can do it unless someone has a dealer scan tool.As far as replacing it would depend on the problem and i think the dealer would of told them the computer was bad. hope this helps.

Odometer not working

Get rid of this car. There is a design flaw in that the timing chain does not get oil and will eventually fail. Some failed in as little as 20,000 miles. Mine failed at 78,000 miles which is real common. I just read on here someone was lucky to get over 100,000 miles on theirs but do you really think you will be that lucky?
