SOURCE: shifting lever doesnt lock

Likely the shift detent mechanism is broken. It's inside the unit and can be reached by removing the trans pan. It should be just inside where the shift lever goes through the case.

SOURCE: 1988 Jaguar xj6 No forward in the automatic trans rev works fine

the linkage is just a slight bit off, it parks between gears when you shift into the slots. Disassemble the shifter from the center console, and slowly move just the cable its self between the positions and see if you have forword gears. When you find and sync the gears, then tighten the cable to the shifter so the positions match the notches in the shifter.

SOURCE: 1966 Falcon with C4 Transmission I changed out fluid and filter

Generally, what causes C-4's and C-6's to be slugish going into gear, is the seals on the servo pistons are getting hard. The servo pistons are what apply pressure on the clutch packs, when the seals get hard the oil can blow past the piston and the clutch won't engage. It's worse when the the trany is cold and usualy gets better as the oil gets warm. You could try some transmission conditioner, the cheep stuff works as good as the high dollar stuff. Don't rev the engine to try to get it to go into gear, the clutch is trying to engage and you will burn the clutch up pack. If the clutches were replaced 3k miles ago why didn't they put seals in it at the same time?

Oil Pressure gauge is all of a sudden reading 80 psi! Was reading about 60 before. No change is the way truck runs. What is happening?

May be blockage in the system caused by either Dirt or heavy build up of carbon in system but more likely the filter is doing its job and his becoming blocked.
Change the oil when it is HOT and the filter and you should be OK

Can anybody pls help me with a oil pressure release valve I tried every place and does it come in a kit

What is an oil pressure release valve? Never heard of one. Do you mean oil pressure relief valve? Depending on car, some are inside oil pump, some are in oil filter adapter. Try calling it a relief valve and see if parts store can now help.

My 2003 cadillac cts automatic transmission will not change gears pulls off slowly but will reach high speed

please do not have your transmission flushed , have someone take the oil pan off and replace the filter as well and what ever trans oil you take out replace it as well . no automotive repair shop will warrenty your trans if it should suddenly stop working , but just for your satisfaction ask the transmission repair shop who flushs trans if they guarantee it and have them put it in writing . ive never understood why flush dirty oil and leave the dirty filter in the trans , it collected all dirt and metal wear which is what is causing it to plug up causing it to restrict the oil flow

Oil filter ruptures

There is a bypass/ pressure relief valve in the oil pump, sounds like it is jammed shut or blocked, You don't say what the vehicle is, if the pump is internal then its a strip down I'm afraid.

at idle ,what regulates oil pressure ,is the clearence, in the pump, itself, off idle the relief valve, ,regulates ,pressure, let me know if you have a pump, put in it, pull the old pump, apart, see if the spring for the relief ,,bypass, valve is broken, i have had a few ,issues with ,gm, pumps,

Oil light is onin my 1999 daewoonubira i have topped up with oil and is still on now engine is making a noise

possible oil pump/pressure relief valve issue or pick up.
can remove pressure relief valve to clean/polish so it doesnt jam then check oil filter (how old?/blocked)
then recheck with oil pressure test gauge fitted to where oil pressure switch is to see what pressure pump puts out if any.

Transmission slipping

there are several issues that need to be addressed. I imagine that the trans oil and filter have not been changed in a while so that is a first step in fixing the problem. trans oil and filter should be changed every 50,000 miles for atf oil and 75,000 for synthetic oil. old trans oil and clogged filters are #1 reason for trans slippage. another reason is the trans controle cable is out of adjustment and there fore the trans doesn't shift like it should this is something that needs to be looked at by a mechanic. third possibilty is either the check valves inside the trans valve body are gummed up or you have a failing torque converter. try and get that oil and filter changed and see if this helps solve it if not than you need to takeit to a shop and have the trans rebuilt.
