SOURCE: spark plug firing order
check the ignition coil power source...get a test light & check for power with the key on @ the positive side of the coil...if it does have power have a friend crank the engine over & check the negative side for a flashing light..if it does then make sure you have spark @ the coil if not replace the coil

1.6L Engines Firing order: 1-3-4-2 Distributor rotation: Clockwise.

The firing order is 15426378. But if is one of the those weird ones with double terminals in the cap the wires won't go on in that order. let me know

have you seen if you are getting spark? also have you turned engine until top dead centre and looked to see when your rotor button is firing to make sure you are firing on number one cylinder?
