PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTIONBefore diagnosing ABS/TCS, perform a comprehensive visual inspection of system as follows.Check ABS/TCS wiring harness connectors for looseness. Check harness routing; pay particular attention to wheel speed sensor wiring harness routing. Check fuses No. 1D, 5B and 6B in instrument panel fuse block. Check fuses No. 1 and 2 in underhood fuse block. Check brake fluid level in master cylinder reservoir. Check brake fluid level in Pressure Modulator Valve (PMV) assembly reservoir. Ensure parking brake is fully released. Ensure parking brake switch is functioning properly. Always perform ABS/TCS system functional check before using DIAGNOSTIC CODE CHARTSThe EBCM/EBTCM has self-diagnostic capability, which can detect system failures. Fault codes stored by EBCM/EBTCM can be displayed using Tech 1 scan tester. There are no provisions for flash code diagnostics.Begin ABS/TCS diagnosis with PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION procedure. If failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, perform necessary repairs, and proceed with ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK. See Fig. 5 .If no failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, go to ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK. See Fig. 5 . The ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK will either indicate ABS/TCS is functioning properly or direct technician to various diagnostic procedures such as diagnostic charts, symptom diagnosis or BRAKE warning light diagnosis.CHART D - TRACTION OFF WARNING LIGHT ON CONTINUOUSLY & NO DTC SET (BUICK WITH UH8 OR U2A INSTRUMENT CLUSTER)Circuit DescriptionWhen ignition switch is first turned to RUN position, EBTCM goes through a self-test, which lasts 2-4 seconds. During self-test, EBTCM commands TRACTION OFF indicator warning light on. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) can also command EBTCM to set a Code 75 which will illuminate TRACTION OFF indicator.Traction control switch is located either on instrument panel center trim plate or driver's front door trim panel. Switch allows driver to select traction control mode (on/off). When traction control system is turned off, TRACTION OFF warning light comes on.EBTCM monitors transaxle temperature through

Cruise control not working

The most common problem with cruise control systems is failure to engage and failure to maintain a set speed. Depending on the year and model of the vehicle, special tools such as a volt meter and vacuum tester may be needed for diagnosing the problem. Consult your service manual before beginning of this procedure for anything special to servicing your vehicle.

Gmc 98 sonoma pu with p1336 error

Hi there:

The crankshaft position (CKP) system variation learn feature is used to calculate reference period errors caused by slight tolerance variations in the crankshaft, and the CKP sensors. The calculated error allows the powertrain control module (PCM) to accurately compensate for reference period variations. This enhances the ability of the PCM to detect misfire events over a wider range of engine speed and load.

Conditions for Setting the DTC:
The CKP system variation values are not stored in the PCM memory.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets:
The control module illuminates the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on the second consecutive ignition cycle that the diagnostic runs and fails.
The control module records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic fails. The first time the diagnostic fails, the control module stores this information in the Failure Records. If the diagnostic reports a failure on the second consecutive ignition cycle, the control module records the operating conditions at the time of the failure. The control module writes the operating conditions to the Freeze Frame and updates the Failure Records.

Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC:
The control module turns OFF the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
A current DTC, Last Test Failed, clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
A history DTC clears after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles, if no failures are reported by this or any other emission related diagnostic.
Clear the MIL and the DTC with a scan tool.
Diagnostic Aids
The CKP system variation values are not stored in the PCM memory after a learn procedure has been performed. If the actual CKP variation is not within the CKP system variation compensating values stored in the PCM, DTC P0300 may set.

The CKP system variation learn procedure is also required when the following service procedures have been performed, regardless of whether DTC P1336 is set.
An engine replacement
A PCM replacement
A harmonic balancer replacement
A crankshaft replacement
Any engine repairs which disturb the CKP sensor relationship
If the CKP system variation learn procedure cannot be performed successfully, check for the following conditions and correct as necessary:
A damaged reluctor wheel
Excessive crankshaft runout
A damaged crankshaft
Interference in the signal circuit of the CKP sensor
A coolant temperature that is not within the Conditions For Running the DTC

The ignition switch is in the ON position until the battery is drained
A PCM power disconnect with the ignition ON may erase the stored value and set the DTC P1336

Hope this helps.

When I put my 1998 Pontiac Transport Montana into gear the ABS and TCS warning lights come on and stay on

The only way to know where the concern is would be to retrieve the trouble codes; without scan tool, this information not provided by the manufacturer.

Self-diagnosis procedures (with the diagnostic scan tool):
- With the ignition switch OFF, connect the diagnostic scan tool (Hi-scan pro) to the data link connector located under side of master vacuum in engine compartment.
- Make sure the ignition switch is in the on position, and then choose correct vehicle and model, proceed to diagnostic data link menu item.
- Choose the inspection item after initializing the unit.
- Press malfunction code detection No. 1 and diagnostic scan tool will display any malfunction code found.
Notice: A malfunction code is a four-digit number that is continuously output until the failure code is erased by the diagnostic scan tool.
- From the list of failure codes, verify the failed part and repair it according to self-diagnosis procedures.
- After repair, erase all malfunction codes stored in the ABS control unit by selecting inspection item (No. 4).

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Not sure what model but its a 1993 buick thee air conditioner needs to be fixed can it be fixed inexpensive?? i think the jerks at firestone jerked with it and made it quit working do you think my local...

The AC not working wil not affect the engine coolant temperature. The engine cooling system is a seperate system fromthe AC system on your vehicle.
The AC could simply have a small leak and the refridgerant has leaked down and needs to be replaced. If that is the case you can have what is called a "pep charge" performed and you will have AC working again until it leaks back down. Before you ask, I can't tell you how long that will take because it depends on the sevarity of the leak(s). Might be a couple of days might be a year. That should generally be about $40 or less depending on how much refridgerant they need to add to your system.
Of course you may have AC components that have failed such as a compressor. This will be an expensive repair. There is no way around this. Usually when a compressor goes out, you need to replace the compressor, receiver/dryer, orifice tube, all of the refridgerant, and have the system flushed. This is costly.
Many shops have proper AC equipment and properly trained techs that can peform an AC diagnostics for $40-$50 (in my area) that takes about an hour or so. This will tell you if the refridgerant is low, indicating a leak, or if your compressor or other component is not functioning properly.
At my shop when a customer pays for the Diagnostic and we find that the system is low on refridgerant. We offer to re-fill the system (customer has to pay additional for the refridgerant of course but no more labor) and add a special UV dye to the system. Then I ask that the customer drive the vehicle for a couple of days with the AC running then return. I can then use a special UV light and glasses to find the leak point on the AC system by locating the point where the dye leaked out. This is all included in the initial diagnostic charge and does not take too much time.
From there we make the decision of whether to fix the leak or not. Often times the leak is repaired for minimal cost as the leak ponts are commonly very inexpensive parts.
