Question about Cars & Trucks
Remotes will open the doors, but will not remote start. Keys will turn all accessories on but they will not start the car either. Full power is available, meaning lights work, horn works, radio works, dash lights up, heater will turn on but nothing I do allows me to start the car. I'm thinking that the remote starter is the culprit and ready to rip the unit out forever............Problem seems to go away after around 45 minutes or so and then will allow the car to start with the key. Bought the car used and I am thinking this is why the original owner sold it

SOURCE: BMW remote control problem
I have a e60 525i that I just brought and it has the same problem, the owners manual suggests driving with the key in the ignition for a long time as the batteries are rechargable and may have gone flat, i have tried this and it doesnt seem to work
i also read something about getting water in the aerial about the rear window and that wrecks the receiever. My car isn;t under warranty so not looking forwarding to taking it to bmw

I disconnected the battery then hook it back up and all was okay again, that simple!!

believe it or not you need to take it to the dealer. There is a software reprogram for the remote control door lock receiver to fix the probelm - really common on tahoes and suburbans. Go to the dealer and tell them about bulletin #06-08-52-002g. It probably will need new remotes also. Try and get the dealer to warranty it since its a known product defect and a known problem
