Question about 2001 Ford Taurus
I replaced coil pack, plugs, wires, upper and lower intake gaskets and put super concentrated injector cleaner in the tank. The only thing that fixed it for a couple of weeks was the new coil pack. In the beginning it was #3 misfiring . With the new parts it has been consistently #2 although I just read the codes again and #6 and #2 are both misfiring. Once the car is warmed up it runs a lot better . The air conditioner makes it 5 times worse. All of this is mostly at idle. It has good pickup and no misfire while driving. The only thing I can think of is either the computer or the injector. I'm leaning toward the computer ????? I need some advice!!!!!
I would also check the front pulley as this is what is used by the crank angle sensor to tell the computer when to fire which coil pack .If the sensor or pulley is damaged it can cause random or continuous cylinder misfires.
Make sure the pulley is tight on the crankshaft at that the rubber in between the inner and outer parts of the pulley is not damaged or slipping.also check for any signs of rub damage on the back of the pulley. When the aircon compressor springs into action it places extra load on the crankshaft pulley.Hope you follow.
Let me know what you see.
Hope this helps.......
