Hi , First off if the motor ran fine before the belt was replaced but not now tells me the belt was not installed right ( not aligned up to timing marks correctly) and will need to be taken apart and rechecked. Keep in mind cranking it alot when belt not installed right can lead to valve damage so it's better to check belt alignment 2-3-4 times before cranking. Also make sure Cam and Crank sensors are all plugged back in along with other sensor connectors before starting because not only will it not start but can damage other parts on a motor design to work in harmony with every thing else.

Hope this help with your question.

You need to run a fault code test and also don't forget other things that cause this like a jumped timing belt or no fuel delivery to the engine.

P 0016 code

Code 16 is for a problem where the correlation between the crank sensor and the cam sensor for bank one is off. So yes it could be the cam sensor or the timing belt. If compression is normal on all 6 cylinders I would expect to find a bad sensor.

Have spark and fuel, new timing start, turns over fine and with a finger test it has good compression

run fault codes to check for cam/ crank position sensor problems . Have a compression test done as the finger is not a good testing instrument and if you did something wrong and the valves are bent the finger will not tell you that

My timing belt and balancing belt broke on my 1998 mitsubishi galant es and my husband put the belts back on in time but the car won't crank. The engine turns over when cranked but won't start. ...

Are you sure it was timing belt? If so. When you crank the engine, does it turn kinda fast without making a wump wump sound? When the timing belt broke it may have done some hidden damage. Its possible it may have bent the valve stems by piston hitting them because the timing to move them was off. You need to perform a compression test on all cylinders. Borrow or rent a compression gauge from an auto parts store. They will tell you how to use it, what to look for. If compression is bad, you may have to remove the cylinder head and have a valve job done. Except that you need to replace some of the valves. This calls for some skill or at least good apptitude in mechanics. OR somthing did not go right with the timing belt install.. Thats all I can do for you now. Check the compression. Good luck.

Changed timing belt on 04 Touareg and now the truck mists. VAG-COM does'nt show any faults. Does this truck need to be reprogramed in order to accept the new timing?

no it doesnt thats for sure ,i think whats happened is you have wacked the valves doing the job ,do a compression test ,when you fit a belt always turn engine over with a rachet on front pulley nut 360? to ensure valves clear ,even the best of us can miss a tooth out when tightening the adjuster ,phone rings ,customer walks in or whatever and this is what i think has happened tighten the adjuster and its moved a notch ,wham bent valves

The cooling fans on our 2004 Volkswagon Touareg remain on for a long time even after the ignition is turned off and regardless of how long we drove it. Would replacing the thermostat fix this problem?

I have a relative who has a touareg, very nice piece of equipment though very sophisticated, you need to get it on a diagnostic machine it may be a fault with the temp sensor or the rad control unit, too many solutinons without a machine, good luck

Crank no start

Remove the plugs and check you are getting compressions to the cylinders first, preferably with a compression guage, but you could use a finger, possibly this is the problem.
Suspect either bent valves or your valve timing is out?

Good Luck !

Try the ignition switch,

For the Crank sensor there is a small metal disc that mounts behind the sensor if that is cracked or dammaged or installed backwards you will get same results as if it wasn't Make sure the timing marks line up on your timing belt.
