There is a safety switch somewhere in the clutch pedal/linkage that must be closed before the engine starting circuit is activated. It seems your switch is bad. They're pretty cheap - less than $10 - and probably is mounted right behind or above the clutch pedal. See a picture at the link. More Information for ACDELCO D2214A
