White smoke usually indicates coolant entering cylinder. This means possible blown head gasket. Worst case, possibly cracked block near a coolant passage.

I have honda accord 1993 SE.White smoke out of exhuast while i accelerate hard around 4 to 6 rpm.can any1 help me out.

White smoke is usually burnt water.
Check your radiator water level, if it is down, check for a blown head casket in your engine e.g.(water in the engine oil, or oil in the radiator water) brown froth on filler caps.

White smoke from exhuast, multiple misfires

White smoke indicates water. If combined with misfires it looks like a broken head gasket or water in the gasoline. Check, when cold and just started if the coolant in the radiator burbs exhaust gas... Also check if the oil is clear and not milky, another indication of water in the oild and also points to a broken head gasket.

Car over heats both fans working and i have a new thermostat.Even checked water pump to make sure it's ok. very frustrating1!!!!!

Flush coolant system out. If this does'nt help check for white smoke coming out of exhuast while its running.White smoke from exhuast would mean that coolant is getting into one or more of the cylinders, which would mean more than likely a blown head gasket.A blown head gasket would cause it to over heat.If you are loosing coolant and don't no where its going would be good sign that its blown. You would need to proform a leak down test on each cylinder this would let you known which cylinder is the problem.

White smoke out of exhaust on my 90 Bonneville......Checked oil looks fine.......What should I expect to pay to have head gasket replaced ??

I was going to say the same thing, sign of white smoke blowing out of your exhuast pipe is usually radiator fluid being leaked into the cylinder and being combusted. In this case it look like it's oyur head gasket and it needs replacment. A head gasket repair is a major work to be done, and it may take up to anywhere from 7-12hrs+ depending on how complicated things are. Most of the repair bill comes from labor and installation. In some case, the engine need to be removed from the car and to be rebuilded. You may be looking at a hefty price tag anywhere from the lowest 800 to 1700.oo+ cost wise. The more cylinder your engine is, the more the price will be. Sometime it is cheaper just to replace the engine, or entirely savage the car and get a new one if the repair bill is more then the car is worth.. You'll have to call around your local repair shop to get a quote vs replacing the engine and deciding if it is best to repair, replace, or savage.

My bmw x5 is smoking and loosing power any ideas???

Has the car overheated recently or in the past? If you are seeing white smoke from the exhuast you may have a cracked cylinder head or blown head gasket. If you are seeing white smoke from the exhaust, check the oil for signs of coolant (milky brown oil color or any foamy white on the dipstick) Also check you coolant level to see if it is lower than normal. If the smoke you are seeing is black you should also check you oil level. (could be a burned valve).

Plums of white smoke coming from exhuast when accelerated

Well if you have white smoke when reving up engine then its not smoke its STEAM as you have been lossing coolant by the sound of it (yes) or no,,,,IF yes then you have done a head gasket or something else which
is letting in coolant to the cylinders and when it fires it blowes it out the hot exhaust and causes steam ,, as the only other way to get white smoke could be burning brake fluid/ or kerro.
So does your engine get hot /loosing coolant/missing when running ///any of these will cause your problem.
Let me know how you get on ,, Ron

Backfiring, rough idel

I would check the exhaust pipe a little closewr. White smoke can also mean a blown head gasket. Check the tail pipe to see if moisture is present. Also check coolant level. A blown head gasket can also cause related problems.
