Hey guys I had the same problem on my '87 YJ. My computer went bad and it was causing the same dilemma. Try replacing the computer or do a nutter bypass and it should run like you want it to and probably give it a little more hp.

repair or, replace the MAP flap switch on your engine's intake tube this switch measures the air volume admitted into the engine so that the engine computer can adjust timing and, fuel injector speed.
