Unplug the MAF sensor and see if it starts. don-ohio

If it starts by unplugging the MAF,a really good mechanic said it might be just dirty or a bad MAF. Could also be a vacuum leak. don-ohio (:^)

Do a fuel pressure test. Sounds like a weak pump or faulty fuel pressure regulator.

Have you checked the fuel pressure. If not, start there. Did you check the inline fuel filter. About your lights: Check your negative battery post. Clean the post and the attaching cable end. Obviously you are having an intermittent ground.

Cranks but wont start

check fuel pressure and if you hear the fuel pump prime for 2 sec and then while cranking have someone listen to fuel filler cap
if ok then look for fire at spark plugs wires
it's for a start usually the problem is in there

My 2002 chevy 1500 van , 4.3 liter v6, will not fire. ran great, no signs of trouble leding up to now. Cranks, cranks, & cranks but no sputter, fire, anything

I would check and be sure I had fire to the plugs and fuel to the throttle body. I read what you wrote about the fuel pump but then on the end of the description where you put gas in the van the pump might not be working. If so you could have a bad wire to the fuel pump or a plugged fuel filter. Once you verify those items I would pull the 02 sensor ahead of the catalytic converter in the exhaust and make sure the cat or muffler is not plugged. If they are it will put back pressure on the engine and not allow fuel into the cyl. to fire.

I have a 2000 Lincolns ls with a v-6.A month or so back we took at on a road trip and went shopping ,came back out and at first crank it didnt start but after that it fired right up.Well as of today we...

Yes it is your fuel pump. Just for giggles try this next time you get in a bind turn the key on and the fuel pum will go on but dont start it just cycle it. and you hear the pump as you cycle it it build pressure and get easy to start. Why does it work at first crank the fuel pump shoot out pressure the then slowly turns(Manufacture design because its in the fuel tank) . when the fuel pump weakens you cant realy floor it and take off it just stumbles or worst stall. If it was a crank sensor, cam sensor, ignition control, you wouldnt drive home youd be towed home.

2001 Lincoln LS 3.9 WONT START WITH 12v POWER!

Make sure the battery is fully charged first. Now you need to find out if spark to the spark-plugs is present and that the fuel pump is working. Let me know and we'll go from there.

The lincoln ls will not start. it s a 2002. you can hear it trying to start but the engine will not fire...

Is it just clicking? If so you need to have your battery tested. try to jump start it and then disconnect the battery and see if the car dies. IF it does, then your alternator is bad. If it just cranks and cranks then you need to check the fuel shutoff switch. could be in the glove box or trunk. My lincoln Mark VIII is in the trunk. Check your manual for sure

1999 Chevy S10 cranks but wont start

A very common problem on the 99 S10 is a leaky fuel pressure regulator in the intake plenum. What happens is when the truck sits for a few hours or more the regulator leaks all of the fuel in the fuel injection system into the intake air plenum. This does 2 things, 1 it has no fuel pressure when starting and 2 it floods the air intake with raw fuel. Sometimes if you turn the key on wait 3 seconds then turn key off then turn key back on and just turn key to crank starter for a split second and wait 3 this 3 times to repressurize fuel system then crank to start(you will hear fuel pump buzz each time you do this.also you may have leaky fuel injectors. Try to crank engine with the gas pedel to the floor. This will tell the computer to stop spraying fuel trhough the injectors and it will start. Joe ASE Master Tech
