We tried this on a Chrysler but could not because the things would not line up so what we did was disconnected the compressor from the air hoses and just used the compressor as an extra pulley. Worked good that way but no cool air. Ran several years that way.

Thank you for your response. I think that the compressor may be seized, so I'm not sure if that is an option.

If you can find a junker compressor that runs free that might work for you.A wrecking yard might have one.

How to bypass the ac pulley on a 2003 hyundai sonata

You can bypass the ac compressor by using a 82" belt. Feed the belt from the back of the engine at the water pump. Disconnect the power steering line at pump. It's a lot easier if you use some type of hook to hold/maneuver the belt. (I used a bent rebar) Follow this routing diagram I created. Bam! No more ac problems!

Rattling from the engine when I start the 2006 V6 Sonata

Do you have the air conditioning on when you hear this rattle? If so, it could the clutch for the a/c compressor. You may also want to check the status of the idler pulley on the serpentine belt. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Serpentine belt broke

There is a schematic inside your engine capartment that shows your belts ,and pullies ,and there should be a sticker on your tensioner, showing how to operate them ,the direction to release them they are not hard to move if you do them right.Hope this fixed ya!
